Sadly the newer generation wants everything handed to them. Take a look at moogle's when it 1st came out. You had to kill 5 NMs everytime you won. most people threw a fit and cried because of it. Now you can solo to get the drops.
We say we want hard content Se makes hard content the other side cries SE gimps it.
That wasn't hard, that was a timesink.

Yes and not saying it was hard. Even though to most Time=/= difficulty. When SE makes hard content(CoP when it 1st came out) people cried and SE gimped it. It may not be hard for you or me. but many consider it hard and want SE to gimp it. and they do.
Don't think you guys understand me really. I want actual hard content and long lasting content. I also want people to have the freedom to choose how much and when to do said events. If you are one of the people who want to blow through everything ASAP. Good for you have fun sitting in town being bored.

@Mog: True.
However the fact still remains that it does act as an illustration of how quickly people are taking negative stances against anything that seems to require effort, and more worryingly how rapidly The Dev Team responded and handed them Moggle pop items on a plate.
EDIT: Reply is to Mog. ..though I could have just said it in game I guess lol.
EDIT2: SE only nerfed CoP.... what... how many years after it came out? Not days or weeks like in this game currently.

I think we can all agree how easy Ifrit was. Yet go back and look at all the threads complaining about how hard it was and how many runs it took to get all the weapons ect. So SE added the totems and made them have a rare drop rate to. People are still complaining and SE is once again going to change how ifrit/moogle drop rates will be again.
Many people seem to hate time sinks and so far SE has been changing the game for them.
So sadly i have a hard time believing it will be any different in the future.![]()

I think the direction they took Moogle was wrong. It wasn't that getting 5 items was a bad idea, actually it was a great idea. However the conditions to fight these five NM's were ridiculous. Fighting around trees and mobs that linked, this felt unnecessary. All you had to do was make the five NM's challenging and not throw something ridiculous as trees in there.
As for timesink = difficulty. It shouldn't be a show of difficulty necessarily, we need content that will last until the next thing comes. While people disagree with this, I really believe they need to use FFXI as a complete template on how to make content last. Sky/Sea lasted years and past several expansions without getting outdated until they raised the level cap. I want to take on Crystal Tower, and then 5 years later, still go back to it. Thing I hate about other MMO's is eventually things get outdated and thrown to the side. I don't want FFXIV to fall victim to this. I want content to stay for the long run.
Couldn't agree more with your post really, but the quoted section above really stands out to me. Its absolutely true. Dzaemel Darkhold has already suffered this fate because there is no challenge or real reward for entering it now, its's a thing of the past.
