Shared macro area lets you share macro's between alts.

to go further into detail, an Individual Macro is a macro made specifically for the character you're on when you make it, whereas a Shared Macro is shared between all the characters you make. So you can say, have Hunt Calls macros under "shared" since you'll likely end up using them on any character, as opposed to only being able to use them on the character you made the macro on.
