Request: Please give us alternate ways to obtain PVP armour and weapons

To be honest I'm perfectly happy earning it through PVP. I enjoyed PVP, even after the skill revamp. This isn't a "give me an easier way to get it" post, more of a "make it possible to get it" post. I know it isn't the same situation in all datacentres, but on Gaia queues aren't popping at all, regardless of the role you queue as. I'm currently queued as Healer and have been waiting 45 minutes. I haven't actually managed to get into a match since last year. Some of the armour and weapons obtained with wolf marks look great but when you can't get into a single match, there's no way to earn them.

If this were a year ago, I would have recommended adding more incentive for people to PVP so the queues pop faster (or at all) but queues are dead despite easier mechanics and the addition of Rival Wings. The devs have gone out of their way to add incentive for people to PVP, and although there was a temporary increase in interest, it hasn't lasted.

I'm not asking for obtaining them to be made easier. I know they're incentive to PVP in the first place and giving people alternate means to get them might cause some to worry that the PVP population will decrease further, but I think those who PVP do so because they genuinely like it, and they aren't going to stop if you let people grind for the gear elsewhere. We already have the Makai stuff in the Golden Saucer, so you could just put it in there.

I'll reiterate that I'd really prefer the gear be left where it is, but for many people there's zero chance of obtaining it, and I don't see anything on the horizon that's going to increase the PVP population.

Why not buy past rewards with the top 100 voucher you receive from getting in the top 100 ;]

Oh right, you don't think you are capable of such a thing so you ALWAYS suggest something ANYONE can achieve.

In the end you just want something for nothing, that's what it comes down to.

Edit: I just want to clarify that I think these items should remain time exclusive just as SE PROMISED they would be. Also want to add that if people were just mad about time exclusivity they wouldn't be suggesting easier methods like wolf collars in the first place. They would actually suggest that people be REQUIRED to get top 100 in a season in order to have a chance at past top 100 rewards. But obviously they don't so it's clear they just want the rewards in a extremely easier way because they want it for basically nothing. It's just the facts.

I do not understand why some choose to be hostile towards others regarding this topic. No one is trying to undermine an item and mark/measure of ones accomplishments that it represents, since the only one who can devalue an item is the owner. Now, if one has a more materialistic value (which is fine) attached to an item or one uses said item as a means to hold over others so that you could brag then yes having said item obtained through a different means will devalue said item. Let us be real though the number of people that have access to the an item does not and should not devalue the personal commitment that went into reaching a goal one set out, only devalues the item for those that do it simply for the bragging rights.

Though I do think a timed exclusive system works out best for everyone involved. Art assists do not go to waste, and for those that want the item for the bragging rights get an entire season to show off the item in question, and next season they show on the next reward (if they reach top 100). Those that are unable to make it to top 100 have to wait till the next season, and earn it through a currency only obtained through the feast. Which might bring more people to try out the PvP mode since the reward is obtainable, just will take much longer to do so, and the only means of obtaining it is taking part in the feast.

Make the goal for past rewards tangible but still require time to obtain. Some people say people want the past rewards for nothing, but who are we judge the difference between farming 200 feast matches or reaching top 100, both take a commitment. Now if people are afraid of bots that is understandable, but that just means SE has to police the game mode and be a more diligent when it comes to reports regarding bots/cheaters/wintraders. The former does not make the latter any less impressive or meaningful, and will always carry more value in social context. The former option will solely provide personal value giving something even the little guy can strive for maybe even making the mode slightly more popular since more people may be willing to try it out for for the rewards and find that they end up enjoying the mode.

Yeah... I don't know either, Awha. All those other things were supposedly exclusive too, and now that more people have access to them, guess what... NO ONE CARES! I mean, I for one absolutely do not lose my shit when I see someone with a moogle cap from the mog station years later after I got mine from pre-ordering ARR

(I joined ARR during the open beta so this doesn't actually apply to me, it's just an illustrative example).

I'd be okay with trying for the top 100...if it were based on legitimate skill and not

1) hacking/botting/win-trading your way to a 99% win rate
2) stacked hugely in favor of healers
3) clogged with people's alts.

I still play Feast regardless because I enjoy PVP but I'm not about to sacrifice my life and all my time in the hopes that a match pops when I happen to be online because I work and have a family and those come before gaming.

If those things alone are reason why "I don't deserve" something, then that's a shallow and self-centered reason if I ever heard one.

Of course I understand that PVP'ers work hard (well, most of them) to hit the top of the leaderboards, and I respect that. I'd be fine with having a different model of the Hellhound too, that way they keep their unique one from the season they topped the charts at. I just really like that mount model. What's wrong with that?

I'd be delighted to see that all top 100 players got there by sheer skill alone. I don't even care if I'm not one of them. I'm learning and improving and having fun - and that's what matters.

Now that we're just in season 7 though, it's hard to get anyone else to take PVP seriously anymore BECAUSE those problems were so wide-ranging before. Or they assume that bots in frontlines + bots in rival wings = bots in feast.
