Could FFXIV Version 2.0 take place in a parallel world?

I'm in agreement with those who suggest that the Wandering Minstrel NPC who gives you your goobbue mount is an in-game representation of Yoshi-P. (For more information about that, see this thread.)

Anyway, I happened to be passing Red Rooster Stead today, and I decided to talk to Wandering Minstrel Yoshi-P one more time. This is what he says.

"Many a night, when I stare up into the boundless heavens, I will oft catch a glimpse of a world not quite our own...
Different, yet eerily similar. Is this the Void, or is it something else?

    I suppose time will tell..."

Now, maybe Yoshi's just making a vague reference to the upcoming world redesign (which likely has to do with an impending destructive event, but I don't want to enter too far into spoiler territory), and the rest is just flavor text. But just for fun, let's pretend that he's actually hinting that the 2.0 world--with its Crystal Tower, Garlean base in Northern Thanalan, ancient tower in the middle of a lake in Upper La Noscea, and time-worn forest ruins--really is a kind of parallel world. I mean, a destructive event by itself could explain a world full of craters and destroyed cities, but the concept art that was delivered to us depicts all sorts of never-before-seen structures as well. And for the most part, they don't seem to be newly built.

In any event, this is a fantasy game, so there are all sorts of out-there ways for a story/lore team to explain a massive map redesign. There's an excellent chance that my guess is completely off the mark. BUT... I do know one other guy who totally buys into what I'm saying here.

Plans for a History Channel documentary are already in the works.

Interesting take on things. I hadn't thought of that, but I can certainly see it as a possibility.

Huh..Never thought about it that way.

Although, I'm still going to go with the more of the "hinting that the change that is about to come" scenario. Him looking into the sky and seeing a slightly different world screams "THAT THING IN THE SKY IS GONNA CHANGE THE WORLD!" (To me, at least)

Although, a parallel world would be just as viable.. But due to the interviews and such, I would lean towards the latter opinion.

Yeah, I also think that that thing in the sky is definitely going to change the world. However, I'm wondering if there's more to it than just destruction.

But like I said, this is History Channel crazy hair guy territory.

Given how much this game nods to FF's of the past, i think it is a fair chance we'll be going to that red moon in the sky eventually.

I thought he was referring to Dalamud coming ever closer to whatever world we are currently on. There has been talk about the red planet, next to the moon, getting bigger and bigger. I don't think it means Dalamud is going to crash into the planet because the huge tree thing that come out of the ground seems to be the even which changes the maps (see ver 2.0 announcement) .

i was wondering about that three thing as well, maybe its something from within the earth that got ripped out by dalamuds gravitational pull as is came closer, it also could be that the realm is bracing itself for the impact and trying to "catch" it with this structure.

Aliens come from Dalamud and land their 'tree-like' spaceship, which just so happens to change Eorzea forever.

Could also be like the FF were you went to the moon. Would be sweet to have a whole new zone like that.

I'm pretty sure it will, just look at Silvertear Falls, one Garlean Fortress dropped there and the Aetheryte veins happily exploded and tore through the earth.

Now imagine a moon falling on Eorzea...
