Whats going on with SE ?

I don't think anything new is going on with SE. This has been par for the course for them for awhile now, as both a publisher and developer.

They begin by releasing a solid title: Deus Ex HR, Tomb Raider, FFXIV ARR, what have you. Then, they fund more of the same, with additional monetization efforts (attached mobile apps; timed Xbox exclusives; Mog Station; DLC that should never have been DLC). Eventually, when sales flag, they move on to plunder new franchises or titles.

It's really an atrocious business model for their long-term health as a publisher. But, it's what they've settled on. Until, and unless, their stockholders and customers punish them for it, it likely won't change. I do what I can personally - avoid purchasing any of their titles at full price, avoid participating in any of the monetization efforts beyond the base game (and base subscription in FFXIV's case) - and I feel alright with this approach. It's the best we can do, really; a boycott I suppose is one further step to potentially take, but I like a lot of the franchises that SE is busy milking.

At the very least, though, anyone irritated by this stuff should avoid ALL of the add-on crap SE is trying to push on us for FFXIV. The Mog Station, additional Retainer subscription costs, and this pending mobile app, only exist because a lot of people pay for them. And the next time someone shows off their newly-purchased emote or mount, don't ooh and aah - shrug your shoulders and tell them you're not the type to waste your money supporting scummy business habits, but oh yes, enjoy your new toy. It's a start, at least.

I honestly jsut want them to introducing new ways to level up DoW/DoM Jobs. Having only spam Beast tribe daily and roulette is rather dull and I wish they would just introduce a new Palace of the Dead for the 4.X era. It would also allow introduction to more rewards and things to do with friends, FC members, and etc who are just trying to level up their characters.

But sadly all these threats of "I wont buy SE products" and "I am unsubbing" is the same song and dance that has been played in other mmo's. Such actions rarely if ever bare fruit, your basically in a ghost town with a gun making threats and no one is around to hear them. Things will change if SE screws up majorly as it stands though the community is going to need to scream a lot louder if you want SE to hear you.

Blizzard got complacent with WoW, the WoD expansion saw numerous complaints which the company basically ignored until they lost a record number of subs. I would hate to see that happen here but there are a few pointers that we could be heading in a similar direction.

Yet ppl buy their products no matter how stale their creativity is or shady their dealings are, even some pro consumers advocates got duped by their loot boxes.
It's all about a good PR management and they are stellar at making you eat w/e they want

Actually that's the best and wisest decision. you are giving them the right message. I want to play your game but I don't want your overpriced cash shop items (which became more expensive over time step by step and character only lol).
If only everyone was thinking like that SE would have forced to retreat with their cash shop and premium app plans.
