Except you can still manage your retainers without the app, and you already have a 70 slot saddlebag to use. I've barely touched mine.

You can manage your troops in WoW and send them on missions without the app as well. They still don't lock it behind a paywall.
And grats on having room. My saddlebags are completely full along with my entire inventory and most of my 4 retainers. Because I actually level my gatherers and crafters and send my retainers on ventures.

I have everything at 70, all my gatherers, all my crafters, and all my battle classes. I also send my retainers out on ventures, hoard materia and dye, and some glamour pieces. It boggles my mind that people think those who don't have inventory problems don't gather or craft or make use of ventures lol.

getting to 70 is no achievement, it is how you use them. Some people craft 70-100% of their game time making tons of different items, that is how, you know what boggles my mind? your unwillingness of understanding that people don't have the same goals as you, or play the same content as you. Some full time crafters can have over 8 retainers selling 20 different items, not clones mind you like some do, and the more diversity you do, the more the strain on the inventory space. The reason for the diversity is because how sales are overall slow in this game, because people do not need them as you find most things can be done without interacting with the MB. I heard stories of people getting 50+ without knowing about the mb or retainers.I have everything at 70, all my gatherers, all my crafters, and all my battle classes. I also send my retainers out on ventures, hoard materia and dye, and some glamour pieces. I have a retainer full of crafting mats as well.

How often do you craft, how often do you gather? what do you make to craft? maybe I can add some insight on why your mind is boggled.

How many retainers do you have?I have everything at 70, all my gatherers, all my crafters, and all my battle classes. I also send my retainers out on ventures, hoard materia and dye, and some glamour pieces. I have a retainer full of crafting mats as well.

I'll be speaking with my wallet, personally.
There are reasons outside of SE's god-awful management of FFXIV for me to continue playing for now, but I'll continue to pay the absolute minimum, contributing no money outside of a stock subscription. I'll also be revisiting my decision to purchase future SE-published titles at full price. In my opinion, they're already milking FFXIV to the point where I'm certain even a stock subscription is being used to fund other titles. So, I feel that $60 is a bit steep for upcoming titles like, say, Tomb Raider 3; I think I'll wait for a sale, assuming it's worth my money at all.
Poor customer service and poor business practices have a ripple effect. SE will learn this the hard way. There are so many great indie titles out there, so many quality Kickstarter titles like Divinity or Torment: Tides of Numenera. I won't miss the shoddy, overly-monetized reboots or remakes that overly-conservative publishing companies like SE focus on these days. And they probably won't miss my money - but every day, more people will choose to favour other studios too, just as I have. It'll add up, and it's entirely SE's fault.

This is stupid. I want my sub related stuff to be on game only. I refuse to buy premium in the app because it offers more stuff and I KNOW it is OPTIONAL. But in this case is where MONEY for the APP is involved.
A mmorpg game should stay as game only. Dont include a app and I KNOW im jumpinh into conclusion not even tried out the app. Idc.

Pay for commodity which is just as annoying

It's not even a slippery slope issue anymore. It's a full on slide downhill as quick as possible today.

I am not happy concerning SE's current direction with this game.
I was okay with stuff like the fantasias and the jump/story skip potions but the increasing amount of items added to the Mog Station (mounts, glamour, emotes,...) and the premium fee for the app to access more advantages like retainers and more inventory space feels wrong, even if the EU datacenter and the NA datacenters relocation were made possible thanks to these extra bonuses.
I love FFXIV and is my favourite game, which is why I'm deeply worried about it's state. To be honest if more practices like these are more and more increased, I might quit until 5.0
Why bother having a subscription price if the game's starting to adopt f2p/p2w practices ?
Just my two cents about this topic.
