If only.... I'd trade this to have the FFXIV GO thing in it's place. The amount of cringe that exists in this app completely sours any positive vibe the rest of the 4.3 content would have given.

And that is so true too. I was so excited when I realized how much content was slated for 4.3/4.35, and then realizing that the one part of the app I looked forward to was premium-only made me so sad I almost forgot how excited I was about everything else!

So I'm trying to keep reminding myself of all the stuff 4.3/4.35 is bringing:
Release: Late May 2018 (yay in 5-6 weeks).
New MSQ. (I wanna know what happens next dammit)
New Sidequests (4 lords, Doman reconstruction,Hildibrand).
New instances (1 dungeon, 1 trial , 1 extreme trial , 1 ultimate, alliance raid, deep dungeon lvl 60+ 100 floors, Eureka Pagos - so much! And the new deep dungeon being difficult starting on floor 31 makes me wonder what type of difficulty this will be!).
Raid roulette with Alexander raids.
Beast Tribe (Namazu - crafting and gathering).
New custom deliveries NPC. Crafting/gathering side story related to alliance raid somehow (sounds interesting).
Glamour updates: can reclaim items from glamour dresser.
Job adjustments: DRK, SAM, AST (curious about that last one. I hope it's a weak instant damage spell similar to SCH ruin II so we have a real option for weaving our 15 ogcds when no hot/dot need refreshing and lightspeed isn't up).
Housing update: guestbook, mannequin.
Crossworld linkshell.

So what's the maximum monthly subscription you can pay for this game now? $30?

People compare this game to F2P, but even a lot of skeevy F2P MMOs will just outright sell you a bank tab. The amount of nickel and diming here makes F2P MMOs look like the good guys.

12.99 € for me and 7 retainers would be.. 9.8, 22.79, thats 28 usd +5 =33 dollars. idk sub costs and such in usd.

it really does, im stunned at all these basic features being a monthly cost. This point the sub cost should be dropped completely while getting money from the retainer service and apps, like other f2p games would do? idk it just seems off trying to charge a sub fee for a f2p model

Well, looks like I'll download the app, register my character for the extra favored teleport destination and immediately delete it from my phone.

I will say, thought, that I'm getting very unhappy with the way SE is managing the game lately, I hope they take the negative feedback and amend their ways before they drive me and a lot of other people away from the game.

Do you need to be connected to your phone so much that you even have to interact with the game via your phone? If you need to chat you can use discord, if you need to access the MB or your retainers you can do so via the game when you're on, no reason to have an app in the first place.

I'm honestly not surprised. SE have been constantly pushing that boundary harder and harder, and yet people still defended them. Now look how far they went.

What's worse is a majority of the income won't even go back to FF14. It'll just go to their other games being in development.

We should say "We told you". Does anyone remember when some of us said -multiple times over the years- that they would keep trying to push the line further and further to see how far they can nickel and dime the playerbase? Yet we were called ignorants, and told that we were making a drama and exaggerating. Well, I guess that we can keep letting them put more F2P crap on top of a P2P sub while getting nothing in return (not to mention other "awesome" changes like moving from account wide cash shop stuff to it being single character... and not at a reduced price tag), neither proper improvements to the actual game or the infrastructure (server limitations here, database being in a shitty state from 2.0 there... huh, but if you pay more we can magically fix it for you... for a month). Perhaps once they sell "optional" quests and dungeons/raids, dungeon or raid tokens somewhere, loot and gil boosters, etc., the community will do something about this. But hey! It's optional, right?

Square-Enix are our buddies. They aren't obviously a business that will try to get as much money as possible, and go as far as customers let them go. /sarcasm

I think it's time for me to take an extended break, perhaps leaving entirely, even if it means losing my house. I've been saying the same about their actions for a long time now, but hoped it wouldn't reach this point. It has. I've had enough of their greed. Only way to speak up is with my wallet, so that's what I'm doing. This on top of other details emerging from the LL has turned me off to this game in a big way.
