Our Bard pants make me sad - there's a nice little extra side bit on the shorts that looks nice...
That disappears as soon as you put on the coat (or 90% of chest pieces - anything that extends past the waist even just a bit).
My only issue with the outfit is honestly just the high heel. Even on a female, I'd have preferred the simpler heels of the original design, where it looks more beast-like / as if you could chase after someone, if the need arises. The armor bulge over the top of the foot just looks... odd.
Well, that and the tassets again resting on some invisible hip-wall some 4 inches to either side of the player's actual physique. I mean, is there even a single racial physique for which that is appropriate? Even Roegadyn don't suddenly burgeon at the waist like that, and Lalafell sets, if the devs excuses for required development time are to believed, are crafted quite separately...
And yet it's like there a invisible steel mesh bird-cage under every shirt hem, skirt, or dress in this game.
Well, at least the pose is so-so. It could've been terrible!
Re. the pants - although they've changed it for this outfit, the male Shisui costumes do have that style of revealing pants, and one of the Xaela tribes we were dealing with were all wearing them. (Unless that style doesn't carry through to the healer/caster versions.)
The changed size of the 'loincloth' section looks strange though. It's too wide and it sits awkwardly. And the feet look just uncomfortable - the concept art had a better idea with (at least it looks like to me) 'fake' wolf-feet over normal boots instead of actually making the wearer stand on their toes.
That bugs me too. I guess it's to ensure it won't clip with any choice of leg gear, but I think they overdo it. (Perhaps to allow for movement so your leg doesn't go straight through them when in battle stance?)

Heh, wow, they took a lot of liberties on the small details (and not-so-small details) that it's almost insulting. At least with the healing set winner, they changed relatively little outside of proportional discrepancies due to art style.
I'm hesitant to comment on the apparent absence of a crotch/butt window of the pants since the widened "flap" is obscuring where it may potentially still be (unless someone can confirm it's not there). If we're assuming that there is none after all, or not for the male characters, then I totally called-it back when the winning design was announced.
I would trade you in a heartbeat. The panties female WHM regularly get aren't QUITE what I want for my character, but they would be a million times better than the generic pair of slacks males get instead, that look just like the generic slacks we got for...almost every single other set in the game. And don't even get me started on the Skalla set; the shorts + stockings from the original contest design are the #1 thing I have wanted for glamour for YEARS at this point, and when the set finally made it in-game I spammed Skalla for ages for them only to find out that they're...yet another pair of ugly pants for me.
This is even worse than the Skalla set, though; this set was designed on a MALE CHARACTER, so if it turns out the female version is closer to the original design than the male version, SE is going to have some serious explaining to do.
I guess I just feel like pants are usually the least-interesting bit of a costume anyway? I cosplay, and 90% of the time I can just buy pants in the right colour instead of making them, while the other parts of the costume are what need all the work. But perhaps that comes back to my taste in fashion and/or character design in the first place.
In terms of the game, pants that are part of a costume set still might have highlights or match an non-standard colour on the rest of the outfit.

It has nothing to do with sexy or not. The original flap is too small and probably would animate very poorly each time the person moved. The model's hips are too weird for that to work, for it to look like the drawing, the miqo would need to have virtually no groin, as where the loincloth is parted would be where it should be. Not everything is this grand conspiracy to deny you sexiness.
