also what happens when you wear the pants without the top? since the top is covering the exposed crotch area... so they have to put some underwar to the pants anyway, wich would cover that exposed crotch part.Getting back to the “sexy” outfit, I don’t think it is so much that the devs are against “showing skin”, but rather how well the concept come together as a whole. To me, the idea of exposing parts of the inner thighs/crotch area as depicted in the original design just feel “off”...

I personally found it quite fitting, considering the overall design. It reminded me of a one-piece body/swimsuit, with the crotch cloth being redundant in terms of exposure and only there for style reasons.

Looking back at the original, I don't think it translated too well. Instead of the original block heels, they seem to have gone for thin ones. The high neck didn't quite make it either and the wide collar seems... off. Looks too wide to me, not emphasizing the original V-Cut design. The back wing part looks nicely done while standing and was likely the focus of the design team, but I kinda dread seeing it in action while moving, lul.
The body piece being problematic was kinda obvious. Since they intended to use it as standard loot somewhere, it was clear they'd separate it into legs and chest (they 'can' link multiple slots, as proven in items like the antecedent attire or the tincan armors of ARR). I'm curious how the back will look, since this is the first time I've seen a picture of the ingame rendition, but I wager it'll just be the usual baggy pants here.
Ah well! I'm just positively thrilled to see the female version now. If that has the crotch holes, I'll laugh. Hard.
I will be absolutely pissed and the devs will never know since I post in English on their forums.
I'm so tired of this game's insistence that only women can have sexy options. They're fine with stuffing me into robe after dress after skirt but god forbid I want to be cool and a bit steamy as a caster...
It's harder to make a man a bit steamy than you think. The problem I think is a lot of male attractiveness is reliant on power, not just showing skin. You have to emphasize the power of the male frame and muscles when you do so, which makes it very hard when you want the guy to show off a lot of flesh. This is why a lot of gear in something like WoW tends to really exaggerate male shoulders via pads, and you also get "costumes" as a form of attractiveness, since certain things have innate power of their own; cowboy, soldier, etc.
It's actually really hard to do, because on the one hand you end up with exaggeration and caricature, and on the other ridiculousness. I mean, it even goes down to how you render the muscles; if it is too chiseled, it can look bad, like the anime Free's male characters and all the little lines around their abs and middle. Another anime that did a very bad job was Pilot Candidate/Candidate for Goddess, which shows you why the devs didn't give the exact same shorts to men as women from fashion report.

I don't particularly agree with this. The projection of power may be considered from a societal standpoint in some cultures as attractive, however those aspects are separate from normalized standards of male physical attractiveness. I find the positions of many on the forms wanting to apply feminized forms of dress to somehow be sexy on males, which for the majority will not translate. That being said I highly doubt our mmo devs will ever focus on the sexualization of the male form based on both the demographics of the game and those of the dev team. If they were to do so however, you would likely see far more muscularity of the male models and more shirtless/revealed torsos in the male armor models.
Um no, as someone who lives in Japan and has a Japanese boyfriend I can tell you this isn't just a "cultural difference" and we shouldn't be accepting this. Even my boyfriend said when I asked him if it was acceptable by Japanese culture "Wow, no it's not at all acceptable. That's really lame"....Japanese culture is known to be very conservative about a lot of things. It's not exactly fair to expect their views on certain things to match that of Western developers like Blizzard. Nor is it wrong. Just different cultures, expectations, and beliefs on certain topics. You say you lose faith in the devs, but similar posters seem to forget that there are a lot of differences between the Western and Eastern cultures. Heck, the Western culture has massive differences in itself alone.
And anyway, how is it that they can give men speedos and subligar and be cool with it but then when it comes to bunny outfits, oh no. That's just too far?

「Life is such a fragile thing…」
Can I have both options so that I can wear actual pants on my female character?
The amount of scratches one must get on their legs when running through dense foliage... I feel outright bad for her.
The outfit still looks pretty good but I loved the open upper arms/thigh area. It had a lovely design aesthetic and I'm sad they dropped it. Also Im not a fan of the ...heels? Why SE? Why do you do this?
