It *shouldn't* be the case, I'll tell you that much, but it seems like this game has a difficult time flushing the cache on our graphics cards, which can lead to these crashing issues. Check this site out for the steps to increase your paging file on Win 7, and give it a shot to see. (I originally set mine to 8-16gb [8192 - 16384mb], depends on how much extra space you have on your drives. I believe 4-6gb [4096 - 6144mb] would be sufficient.)
I have a 16GB pagefile on E drive, but I'll make one on the c drive (SSD). I'm not sure if it will help, my rig has 16GB of ram and I'm barely using 4GB, maybe 6GB when I run FFXIV and Chrome (which is a memory hog). I'll try the 4GB pagefile on C drive today and see if I can get across some content without crashing.

I recently tried to increase the pagefile on my c drive and e drive, and ran into an issue, so I kept the extra pagefile on my e drive. It sounds like you already have it set up the way I had done mine. If anything, I would say to create a buffer, like, 16gb min and then set a maximum, but I'm leaning more that your issue isn't going to be solved with this method in the end since you already had that.

Do you run anything else while the game is running? My main thought is Discord, or chat services, but there could be other things. If you run Discord, check what your ping is when you are connected to a service (When you're in a chat, it shows your connection status, and signal strength, click the "i" to find what exact pings you're getting. Again, I'm not confident this is the fix, but ever since I started using Discord, I've noticed lag issues to eventual disconnects, which I don't have when Discord is closed.

Are your fan filters clean? I was having crash problems - only when FF was running - but then that's the only program that pushes my graphics card.

Turned out the root cause was the fan filters where plugged, causing the graphics card to overheat, causing a crash or restart.
