Is it okay to use another player's character 'fantasia' as your own without asking?

I'd find it tacky if they actually copied a friend or another FC member otherwise I'd say go for it if you like the look.

Had this happen to myself, person from a previous fc just stood there in silence targeting me while I was doing... something, I forget what. 5 minutes later they fantasia into an almost exact replica, hair style/colour and all. Only eye colour was different.

Was. Not. Impressed.

I'm not a fan of having my own "original" style copied. Each situation is different and intentions behind the copying are important when determining how to react.

I'm aware this is a video game, no one has any actual ownership of the styles we create and with limited options there is always the possibility of similar styles. I'm also aware of the typical gamer mindset when it comes to appearing to be cool/powerful/the most stylish.

But personally I'm not a fan of it and if I took the time to find a style that fit me without stealing someone elses, so can you.

If you try to imitate the look or a part of it, that's fine imo. If you imitate the whole character (including the appearance, glamours, name, behavior), that's creepy and you should stop. Consider adding something small like highlights to the hair or facial scars to make your character slightly different from the one you are inspired by.

I change my character so much I wouldnt care personally.

However with the limited creation options, its going to happen at some point where you run into your twins.

If I knew the person was intentionally trying to copy/mimic the appearance of one of my characters, that'd be kinda weird. Like in the same way that if you saw your friend get a certain haircut IRL, it'd be weird to go out and immediately get the same exact one and dye your hair and do your makeup (for those who wear it) to match your friend.

When I encounter another player with the same face/details, I don't think much of it though. Highlanders have like 3 options and pretty much every sharkface is gonna look pretty similar. But if I knew someone was purposely trying to clone my character, that'd be off-putting. We have enough options available to make some unique glamour combinations.

considering feature customization is super limited and a lot of people wear the same clothes because they are doing the same endgame content, I'm not sure if the twin look is even intentional most of the time.

I've never found a "twin" in-game (although I found someone posting on social media whose character looks so close to mine I had to do a double-take because I thought I had ended up in someone else's screen caps...), and I think it would feel a bit odd to see someone looking like my character on my actual server. I would definitely question whether or not it was a coincidence and be kind of weirded out or ://// if it wasn't.

But that said, maybe I shouldn't talk because I shamelessly imitate my friend's awesome glamours sometimes. >___>

I mean character customization is limited and chances are if you're running around as a mi'qote you think is unique there's probably 100 others with the same character appearance.

I feel like it *is* different, because there's a real person involved and directly 'in' that character, unlike copying a completely fictional character. It's a blurry line depending on whether you think of player-avatars as "real people" or also fictional, I guess - but I would be quite uncomfortable if someone deliberately copied my character.

Coincidental twins, on the other hand, are inevitable - particularly since some combinations of appearance traits just work well together, so other people are likely to have followed the same thought process!

I definitely feel it comes down to intent - we had the same idea? No problem, we still equally created independent characters that happened to look alike. You took my design so you could look like me? That's a bit creepy.
