I agree the lockboxes go overboard with too many and too much junk but I also have issues with the proposal for yet another currency.

No you really should've continued to bump your previous thread instead of making a new one to belabor your previous point. Can inventory be handled better? Of course. Is it bad now? Only as bad as you make it for yourself.
I personally don't think the inventory space gets THAT bad on every patch like you say, to the point of making a huge deal about it. It's obviously an issue, but let's not exaggerate. They are obviously struggling to keep it up, because of their server limitations™, but I would like to believe that they could afford an extra retainer at the very least. They are also working with their legacy code as far as I remember, trying to patch whatever they can. They actually moved a lot of currency to the currency tab. They made it so you could stack 999 of a single item. They created this Chocobo saddlebag to store additional items. They created the glamour wardrobe as well, which is still on its early stages, with a lot of room for improvement. They KNOW this is an issue and they are working on it.
As for the lockboxes themselves, the question is: Was this massive lockbox acquisition, consequence of the NM train, really intended from a dev. standpoint? They had to tweak the crystal convertion rate options for a reason. They probably didn't expect this to happen.

I suspect they assumed people would spawn their own NMs while grinding mobs, similar to how they thought Hunts would be treated. It's incredibly naive on their part, especially given they know how we treat Hunts. Alas, they tend not to focus on how the playerbase plays.

Ya but, keep in mind how many some went though to get a mount, 1000+ without a mount? so this conflicts with the idea they did not expect people to gather mass amounts.I suspect they assumed people would spawn their own NMs while grinding mobs, similar to how they thought Hunts would be treated. It's incredibly naive on their part, especially given they know how we treat Hunts. Alas, they tend not to focus on how the playerbase plays.
I got about 1700 getting to level 20.. i mean.. its too much

As long as they charge for retainers there will always be incentive for them to make inventory a hassle. But the real question is more of one of how much can they get away with?

make them a currency, problem solved
Never heard of a player complaining that the game gives him/her too much loot. I guess there is a first time for everything.
Most of the stuff you get from lock boxes, after you receive the first one of it's kind, are useless. At least let us desynth the housing/glamour items. The barding and mount are just throw away after you already have it(unless they make it so we can trade it later on). The only things that are regularly useful are the Eureka Potions and Materia. The fireworks just get sold to NPCs 99% of the time, same with most of the glamour gear since the markets are over saturated with them right now. I've stopped opening my lock boxes for now(have over 1100 on my Chocobo) in hopes that things on the market fade out, or they make more changes.
Btw OP: this isnt your main character right? I mean according to the lodestone you're only lv60 with nothing else. And you have to be lv70 to get into eureka.
Just asking.
