They've anounced that they're gonna do those early translations on twitter from now on instead of the forums.Bayohne typically does a live unofficial translation on the forums:

If you watch the live letter, the important details tend to be presented in a slideshow. The slideshow is in English and Japanese. Of course anything spoken is only in Japanese and the slides only cover highlights.Men, feal like is disrespect really if we have to wait a week or so for official translation. Next step probably make it so only JP can watch the live letter even tho we NA/EUR don't understand it anyway.
Didn't they say Twitter would have it?
I mean I would watch duty commenced but kinda meh
If it was on YouTube I'll probably watch it from my phone, don't really like going through twitch.
I'm surprised they didn't IP block this game and such like they did for DQX. I feel so happy to be worthy of such a product. :P
If you read the details of the letter, they specifically announce that they're moving it to twitter. There is a specific reason for this: Not everyone reads the forums. They're more likely to reach the full FFXIV audience through Twitter. However, (although admins are immune to this limit) 1,000 characters to post with here is frustrating enough. trying to translate in 280 character blocks is going to be irritating.
Kind of follow-up to my second question those who responded earlier where can you find the link for the Reddit Final Fantasy XIV Discord?
But there's still a part of the playerbase that does read the forums
Is their community team that small that they can't do both at the same time? It's one of the largest subscription MMOs after all.
This is still the official place for the FF14 community and its sad that they will stop using it. NA and EU together make up the majority of the playerbase, yet we now have to either wait for a summary, read twitter with its even smaller amount of words per post or hope that the fan translations are good enough. If you read the details of the letter, they specifically announce that they're moving it to twitter. I'm just glad we're getting DQXI over in the West. I loved DQVIII but I never got the chance to play any of the other DQ games.
I do think they're well aware of much of FF's success being tied to the West, though. It's a shame we're not engaged as directly as the Japanese playerbase.

They have a translations channel where stuff is posted on the go, note some things wont be 100% accurate since it's a fan translation, but Yoshida tends to give small details that don't make it to the official translation so it's good to follow both.
