Link another PSN acct to SE acct?

Hello, folks,

I've googled this and can't find an exact answer.

I began playing FFXIV on PC then it ported to PS4.

My son hadn't used his PS4 in ages, so he said I could use it and I linked the accounts.

Fast forward a few months, and he wants his PS4 back so he can play VR games.

I'm going to buy my own PS4 and know they won't unlink the account... that's fine, but... can I link my new PSN acct to my SE acct... in other words...will they allow multiple PSN accts to the same SE acct?

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Unfortunately, that won't work the way you want it. Once the accounts are link (a one-to-one link) you cannot link it to another PSN account. Unlinking the accounts will permanently damage the Square Enix account.

You can log into the same PSN on your new PS4 and play on that one, but it will not let you play on both PS4s at the same time.

I guess it's time to decide to stay only on PC, or start over from scratch with a new PSN.

If I buy a new FFXIV license can it be linked to this SE account then that FFXIV license be linked to new PSN?

Or do I have to start everything from scratch, including ditching this SE account and creating a new one?

Would it even let me create a new one since my email address is associated with this SE acct?

So confused now, lol.

If you create a new PSN, you would have to create a new Square Enix ID to link it to as well, as it is a one-to-one link. This would mean starting the entire account from scratch. If you want to play with your existing character, you can either play on PC only, or only play on PS4 when your son is not.

Or since you're getting a new PS4 anyway, just give the new one to your son to play VR on and keep the original for yourself?

Sadly dejiko_san, he too has games bought and linked to his PSN where he's spent money, like Skyforge.

Guess it's start everything over again, cause now that I've gotten used to playing console games, it's tough to go back to PC, lol.

Oh... forgot to ask... do I have to create a new email account or can multiple SE accts go to a single email account?

Hello Vaydren.

Our system is case sensitive so you can use the same email with a different casing (e.g. abc@gmail is different than ABC@GMAIL). However, to avoid confusion it is recommended that you use a different one but the choice is yours.
