I'll start with.. I don't play mages often, but I've noticed what I consider a fundamental flaw in the class (suspense building *duM duM duhhhhhMMMMM*) and it's centered around one ability.
Parsimony: Reduces MP cost of next attack spell by half, and restores MP when spell is cast. (Recast: 90 Seconds)
- Fire: 294mp
- Fira: 504mp
- Firaga: 714mp
Total Cost: 1512mp
- Thunder: 210mp
- Thundara: 378mp
- Thundaga: 546mp
Total Cost: 1134mp
The issue I have is that when you use Parsimony it doesn't reduce the MP cost up front, before casting. The spell cost is cut when the cast is completed and the MP from your pool is drained; it only takes half the amount post-cast and awards you some mp in return as well. (example below)
Example:
You have 900 MP.
You cast Thunder (-210mp; 690mp remaining).
You Thundara (-378mp; 312mp remaining).
*Use Parsimony*
You are unable to cast Thundaga until you have 546mp.
If Parsimony cut the MP cost prior to casting, Thundaga would cost 273mp and you would be able to cast it.
I propose that Parsimony cuts the MP cost of your next attack spell before you start casting, instead of after the cast as it does currently. Once your spell has completed, you would then be refunded some additional MP.
As an added bonus it would be beneficial if all of the MP costs on your offensive spells, on the UI, were reduced by 1/2 when you activate Parsimony.
As I said, I don't play mage much but I know MP is a large concern for the class and how effective it is. This tiny tweak would help in a few situations, but more or less when it matters most... when you're low on MP and need to do some shi...stuff.
