Where did the Lalafell hate originate?

I dunno about hate, but the small number of rude people I have come across over the years, I would have to guess have been 95% lalafells (the rest of them being miqs or au'ra). I don't really see why generally rude people are drawn to be the "cute" races in some games; Of course the vast majority of lalafells are fine people.

It's fun to tease other people is where it comes from mostly. I'm aware that it's very likely just confirmation bias but personally most of the obnoxious rude players I've come across were also Lalafell players. Of course I've probably met just as many jerks that play other races but it almost seems like being tiny attracts trolls? Again probably just a personal bias.

All in all I don't mind the lil buttheads, some of them are cute.

I don't hate most Lala and some times want one to just cuddle. They're walking talking teedy bears. Until they emote spam or are female and have that one voice and then spam the i think it's the shocked emote?

Female lalafell voices are difficult for me :X Most of the options boil down to high-pitched, barely audible, or really low/old sounding (which does not fit the Lala race IMO). I currently am using voice 4 or 5, and the /cheer & /happy emotes are so damn shrill. I won't use the emotes for that reason alone. I do really enjoy all the 'quieter' emotes (doze, no, yes, fume, chuckle, etc) with this voice, which is why I gave it a shot. But yes, lala voices in general...yikes.

LOL, I juuuust watched that video before my post as I was trying to find examples. There used to be this channel that went through all emote/battle voices (for all races), but it seems to have been taken down

Oooh, list time.

1. Lalafell emotes tend to be incredibly obnoxious and their players take advantage of it. WAI! WAI! WAIWAIWAIWAI! *lies on the ground with butt sticking in air in dead pose in a set of couerl briefs*
2. Lalafells have no lore whatsover. FFXI had the taru as the magical race in charge of their own nation, who were in an alliance with the mithra. Lalafells are just...there, except in Uldah.
3. And in Uldah, many lala NPCs are downright evil, or ineffectual.
4. Same problem with the tarutaru, lala are essentially a cute chibi race but in a fairly realistic fantasy MMO. They kind of grate a bit, and even in anime you don't really see the same contrast done well.
5. Lala players...well there are enough oddballs that they tar the race some.

1. All races have pretty bad ones. I've seen Elezen's be just as bad emote motion wise. Roe's too actually.
2. There's an item leading them being believed as an experiment. They're also known as the first people to adjust to the Hyur's language of all our playable races. Think that's better than those sun cats...
3. If we really wanna use the actions done by NPC's in the game, Lala's are no where near the worst. I've seen a ton more Hyur, Roe, and Elezen NPC's that are evil. The only two races I seen less of are Au Ra and Miqo'te.
4. They were marked as the dwarf race. The cuteness is entirely thanks to the team's idea that we're really attracted to cute. Then again, when female Miqo'te is half the playerbase...
5. There are enough oddballs in every race. Please don't just stare at Lala's for that. You wanna know how many Miqo'te Nuhn RPers I see whisper me for their fun times? And I'm the creepy player race?

Well it's a meme and a lot of people love memes. I don't actually have any bad feelings toward anyone who plays lalafell or the fact they play a lalafell. I just love jokes.

I don't think her point is that she hates when people joke. I think what shes trying to say is shes tired of hearing the same ones over and over. Not to mention when people joke so much about lalas and nothing else it actually does come off as a bit racist. I have played lala main since 2013 and i myself think it also gets old fast. It's like listening to the same song every single morning, it can drive you insane, although hey it doesn't bother me as much anymore because whenever someone says the same old joke every day i just reply with some nice cloud breather jokes (tall jokes) so meh.

i dont think there is any hate on lalafells, i tend to poke fun at it and call them potatoes when messing around on the game with a friend, but i dont hate the race.

Considering lala jokes happen far far more than any other race's jokes i would say there is either some in game racism going on or everyone loves lala's secretly lol. kinda like how you picked on the girl you liked in 1st grade. I mean it doesn't even take statistics to figure out lalas are picked on way more than anything else in game. So that fact in itself basically verifies discrimination of some sort or another. Even the people who just say they like joking around are still making the same joke about a lala every single day. I mean irl if someone made the same joke every other day people would just be like...dude make up some new material your getting boring and stupid.

I would say for myself go with hate them generally with a few exceptions. My issue is that they are small and cute which makes them look like children which brings up the issue of feeling like a pedofile around them.

What you're saying makes no sense. Just because you think something is cute doesn't mean your a pedophile. Parents think their own children or babies look cute. Does that make them pedophiles? How you try to relate cute to pedophilia is just beyond reality completely.............please have some common sense. I think lala's are cute, and i also think cats are cute. So what?

As for lala hate. I dont really see it. what little i do see i used to put down to age old resentment in FFXI. everyone was jealous of the taru taru MP. but these days who knows....
