Does anyone ever think of starting over?

Because of my design/aesthetics issues I kind of like games where each character can only be one class because then I don’t feel like it’s quite so ridiculous to have so many characters lol.

I agree with that part. I've done all the classes with my one character because you "have to", but I feel like it has a negative effect on her characterisation, because I've had to go through a number of roles with her that don't suit my actual concept of what she's like. I would love it if you could 'link up' multiple characters and choose which one of them goes through the job quests, while still getting credit for those "completed all Disciple of X questlines" achievements.

It's why I'm playing my second character as a Warrior, because it didn't suit my main character at all and she seemed terribly out-of-place in that storyline, so I left it aside. I can enjoy the story better with a character that suits the quests.

Truth be told, after dragging 8 characters through the MSQ, the mere idea of having to do it again scares me a little. I think I'd rather mate with a manticore >_>

In general, I kinda like starting over and more importantly, I like having alts with different races/designs. Comes with the bonus that you can play without everyone knowing that you do, so on those days where you wish for an "appear offline" option, you got an option. The glamour game takes on entirely new dimensions, tho...

I did think of it once, and quickly become like "oh s**t, nope, nope, nope" when looking again at some time consuming/gated content/achievements i did unlock. Plus i dont already have enough time to do all that i would want to do on my main, it would be even worse by restarting over on some alt. That's a thing i did do on some mmos with way less content, but it dont looks like appealing to me on one that is imo meant to be played in the long run.

Yes Maxed out and out of boredom have alternate. Just use it for alternate Large FC gathering and such though.

I've also started an alt in addition to still progressing on my main. I was feeling nostalgic for the story, and it had been years since I'd played through ARR, so I'm enjoying re-living it. I wouldn't want to redo everything, though (leveling all crafting and gathering classes would be a pain - not to mention the beast tribe grinding). Also, I'm very attached to Brynne at this point. But I do enjoy playing my alt when the mood strikes.

I play my alt for the main story, but I won't complete any grinds or spend real money on it. Once is enough.

I actually started over last weekend. I even picked a different server. I love it. It's better than running around in circles

I made an alt... and its still sitting at level 15. Its just too daunting to do everything all over again.

My HUD Layout is the result of almost a year of small adjustments and additional small things I've kind of built up over the course of playing the game, there's no way I'm going to be able to do that on a new character in 15 minutes, and since I'm a PS4 pleb I can't simply transfer those files over to another character so I guess I'm stuck with my main forever.
