You cannot convert it, you will have to relinquish it (which loses the house) and buy it again. My suggestion (should you have the gil) is to find a small, cheap filler plot somewhere, then use it to immediately relocate to the relinquished plot. That way you don't have to deal with RNG. Good luck!
