    Warrior dungeon tanking rotation/question

    Hi All,

I'm a returning player who has a Paladin as my main since beginning.
Just came back to FFXIV to take advantage of the 4 days free login and want to give Warrior a try.

I notice the Warrior's cross-class skills have changed (again?), also it used to have Flash, but no longer.

My question is... how does warrior do in dungeon tanking in comparison to Paladin?
also, how does one manage TP? any general rotation during a pull (3 to 5+ enemies) that I should be using?

    Thank You!

WAR will still suffer TP issues in lower level dungeons. Yet, the same goes for PLD once you get access to eclipse (new PLD AoE).

For your maximum output damage, you pull with tomahawk and/or 1-2x overpower, apply storm's eye buff and go full overpower - best paired with unchained.
For PLD 1-2x flash, then fight or flight for eclipse until you are TP dry or need to get aggro again by using flash - this doesn't change at lvl 70.

At 70 your berserk gets upgraded to inner release, allowing to use all gauge skills without losing any beast gauge - new wrath stacks.
After your inital pull (tomahawk + 1-2x overpower, then storm's eye buff) use this to spam either steel cyclone in defiance or decimate in deliverance.

Hope, I that helps you. Good luck with the new skill kit in SB.

    thanks for the reply!

I don't have any resource issue with my Paladin due to I can replenish my MP (using Flash) to keep the aggro.
my main concern with Warrior was if I spam Overpower, I may run out of TP (since they removed Flash from Warrior's cross-skill) for the next fight.
I will try tomahawk, pull 1 to 3 groups then overpower x2, after that I will apply Storm's Eye, then overpower x1, then rotate butcher's block based on which target needs attention(?)

Assuming you have good DPS mates using AoE skills - not single target - your best skill is overpower, until your storm's eye buff is about to fall off or you run out of TP.
Use inner release to spam your gauge skills - for AoE steel cyclone if you have to get hate/need heal or decimate to maximize damage.

Please don't just spam flash and roit blade to replenish mana. Use your damage dealing AoE skill too, eclipse. Your job is not just to hold hate, but also to deal damage.

    got it!
    thanks for the suggestion.

so what do you do when you run out of TP?
do you have enough time to recover(or recover enough) before next pull and start the same rotation again?

If you get good DPS all enemies should be dead already or near death, before you run out of TP. If you can take the risk and go to DPS stance, use equilibrium to restore 200 TP every 60 sec.
You also can use it to restore HP, you have to estimate yourself what is best. Between pulls you should get around 500 TP. Should be enough for holding aggro on next pack.

If you run out of TP, just use your storm's eye/storm's path rotation. Eye to reapply damage buff and path to fill your beast gauge - whole path combo gives you 10 more gauge than the other combos.
Use gauge abilities to burn gauge. Avoid caping gauge in general! Also, gauge abilites don't use any TP at all.
Use butcher's block only when you lose aggro and have low TP. Avoid using it in general - except when synced to lvl 50 and you don't need defiance.
As long as you have access to deliverance (and defiance) just avoid butcher's block as much as possible.

    thanks!
wow, I did not think Warrior could hold aggro with just Deliverance.

these are good suggestion, I will give the steel cyclone and Eye+Path combo a go.

    thank you so much!

Every tank can hold aggro in DPS stance (in DRK case no stance/Dark side only) you just have to know how.

For packs I would still recommend staying in tank stance because you will probably get beaten to death before your healer/you can heal, should you stay in DPS stance.
Yet, all that depends on experience, tank-healer coordination and ofc how strong/big your packs are.

For boss fights: Establish aggro in tank stance and then swtich to DPS stance and only use aggro combo if you are close to losing aggro. Try to stay in DPS stance the whole boss fight.

    Keep fighting!

they've made TP fairly tough to max out on since the expansions (ive only ever seen myself lose my tp in low lvl dungeons when aoe spamming) just rotate through ur defensive cooldowns while holding hate and keeping ur buffs up and you should be golden for basically any content.

Thanks for the input, I'm still leveling my Warrior at the moment, what are some of the defense cool down do you pop/rotate as a warrior?
For my Paladin, I have plenty to rotate through, but for Warrior I'm still new to it.
