when did the gender of schs fairy change

So our fairies are the crystal gems?

They "live" in them, yeah. Nymian scholars would use arcanima and elemental energy to bring these beings into existence and then bind their essences to the soulstones. When we summon them, we draw that essence out and give it form. This is how they accumulate experience and "remember", thus eventually forming their own personalities.

I meant that as a joke about them being the Crystal Gems from Steven Universe ("sentient rocks" whose physical bodies are made of light and technically have no gender) lol

Ok so this was bugging me. Since someone posted on reddit claiming Lilly was in fact male. So I did some delving. Lilly is in fact female as previously thought due to two pieces of evidence.

In this image it can be seen that she has a female model

And in this image we can see the quest dialogue stating "Your faerie detects the voidsent's aetherial traces- the remains of its prey. She directs you next towards Zelma's Run in upper La Noscea.

I appologize for being a little overzealous on this but the possibility of getting such a huge lore point wrong for so long was really bugging me.

It might not be a bug or a localization error. The issue might stem from one of the few limitations the English laguage has, gender neutrality. In other languages when talking about a collective of unknown gender, male pronouns are often used, but in those instances its understood that you are talking about someone of an undetermined gender, since there are so many words. English however, mostly just has male or female. There is the neutral pronoun they, bit not everyone uses it, and some text still uses he to refer to a mixed set.

I can't say for certain without seeing the text in question, but this might be the answer you're looking for.

There is a similar issue with the RDM minion text. I know it uses female pronouns which is fine, but they change the perspective midway through. I'll see if I can find and like it.
