Suggestion: Chat notification for Signs and Waymarks

Probably you already guessed what is about but just to be sure everyone gets the point...

Every time when party member (or player playing alone?) place or remove "Signs" or "Waymarks" there will be a notification in chat, e.g. [3:43] Player* Madbunny removed {symbol name/icon} from Cuachac or [3:43] Player* Madbunny placed waymark A to the ground... well you got the idea.
Best would be if we can get an icon representing the action. That icon will be the same as one in "Signs" and "Waymarks" (popup) windows.

The main reason to implement this feature are players "abusing" this markings, especially in 8/24 players dungeons. I dont know if this was happening before because i saw this only recently, probably because i'm lvl up tank jobs so usually i'm the one using this marks. Sometimes i try to explain the tactic to new people only to have some jerk messing around. Its directly affecting experience of both parties, one trying to explain and the new player(s).

At least with this notifications we can see who is doing what and maybe report if the "harassment" doesnt stop. Either way i think just the fact to not be able to hide while messing around would be enough to discourage good part of them.

    * Notification could start with a player name (without "Player").

Last I checked....such things are "logged"

    Unless you turned it off.

I see it notify me...not loudly mind you...but I do see it...at least when someone "assigns" a marker.
Removals however...I don't see that...so you may have a point there.

I think the problem is that when players are generally sticking to mechs and put down markers to help everyone out, there have been situations where someone would keep removing them and no one would know at all who it is. The idea seems to be that if it's logged in the chat then the party will know who to kick for trolling (or any other reason).

Could that harassment just be another member of the raid group explaining it to their party?

    Exactly.

No, especially when you have one guy explaining to the entire raid, in 8 man dungeons (like MSQ) or for the simple fact the mark once removed doesnt appear anywhere else e.g. someone removed just for the sake to fulfill his/her need to be a jerk.

I'm in no way familiar with the coding of FFXIV but this feature should be pretty simple to implement.

Then perhaps your explanations weren't really required.
Most fights, not all, but most only require a single line to explain everything pretty easily.

You don't need to sit the class down and have a quiz before each encounter.

I suppose the best example I can think of is 24man raids such as Rabernastre. Now although markers are not completely required, having them in the first two fights do benefit everyone greatly, and I think a couple of the other raids can find them useful but no that much anymore.

Generally some players do find the markers useful along with obviously explaining any mechs, but whichever players find easier really.

When I still did Rabanastre I liked to put markers because for some unknown reasons pugs tend to fail at the second boss.

But in some groups somebody would keep remove the markers or just place them in an other locations or just put them in the middle etc (Yes, there were people that actually got in the middle then during the sand orbs ...)

Also, while we're add it, give us the option to not only blacklist people from our own party but from the whole alliance raid. After the roulette is over in the contact list you only get the 7 players that were in your party but the other 16 players from the other groups are not in that window, will make it much easier to blacklist trolls and bad people.
And increase the slots as well, the 200 slots are almost filled up for me. Unless of course your servers would crash ...
Have to be careful with that!

Maybe for some players but new players are still coming in this game and we all should have patience for such players. Dont forget at one point each one of us was a newbie. Oh and when you ask "anyone needs tactics explained" and then you have one/few people answering with yes, there is no doubt that someone actually needs a little help.

In short...there's always that one idiot/newbie/clueless/sprout/never done this before in every crowd
Having markers is usually a good thing..unless they become trolls....
