    Cursor keep moving

So, in-game my cursor randomly shift to the right one, which obviously sucks when it messes up a combo. It isn't just in battle though; I can be sitting somewhere and it will randomly highlight someone.

I use a gamepad, but the left/right actions are set to the control pad and not a joystick. I currently have it set so that no keyboard key cycles through the menu (left/right) nor switches (N)PC target. Any suggestions?

Do you use a PS3 controller with Motionjoy?
If so there was bug in the driver that made it do random movement, this has been fixed and you need to upgrade to the newest version.

I've had this problem before, the controller may be broken. Does it happen in other games or just FFXIV?

You can set your controller sensativity lower by setting a higher number.

Go to FFXIV Config through the star menu short cut.
    Click Gamepad.
Look to the top right and select the dropdown menu named Calibrate.
Increase the value until your cursor stops drifting in game. (might take a few tries logging in and out)
    Good Luck!

Edit: Just re read the post. It might be a bad contact sensor or a sticky rubber tab thing. If the controller is out of warranty then disassemble it (carefully and document which part goes where) to see if dirt managed to creep in and such. There should be rubber "tab pop up bubble wrap looking things" that push down into a metal contact. That is what should be sticking / shorting... easier way would be just get a new one ._. Good Luck!

The sensitivity on the config menu only applies to the analog sticks, the d-pad is digital, it's either 0 or 1, so it sounds like a faulty controller to me. My logitech one was driving me crazy with exactly the same behavior. Now using a PS2 one via an usb adapter, no problems anymore.

Somehow, the PC controllers are less durable from my experience. I've changed 3 PC controllers since around the time I bought my PS2 and this PS2 controller is still alive and kicking. And I'm sure I used it more than the PC ones.
