I would say that it's normal. When you are learning anything, it is normal to take some steps back. You will parse lower for now because your rotation is new or its even changing. At first you probabily clip GCD a lot, will make mistakes, will miss the timer, will forget some oGCD, will make the previous rotation in a non-optimized manner without realize it... It is normal, since you're learning. You're parsing lower numbers because your rotation changed and the DPS gain will be visible when you are comfortable with the new rotation. And that takes time.

Don't worry so much about taking a step or two backward. It is needed for you to actually learn.

Well, that and looking at how late in the raid cycle it is and I have nowhere close to BiS gear, my numbers won't look like how I imagine them to be. It's all good right now. My focus is shifting from big numbers to actually learning the job, and right now, I am re-focusing on DPS'ing properly in general. I'll get there someday. Just needed to start refocusing.
