People like to roleplay, and not every player has their character at peak physical performance.

Also you can gain weight no matter how much you exercise. Sumo wrestlers are wicked strong.

Sumo wrestlers have a specific diet that allows them to gain body weigh the way they do. If they didn't eat the specific foods that they do they wouldn't gain the weight that they do.

Yes you can gain weight regardless of how much you exercise but it's not more "realistic" than the body types we have now.

Strange a couple of posts had been deleted? All I did was point out that the game was made in Japan where the average weight is fairly low. Maybe it was because I quoted someone.

I'd just like a bulge for my male toons, a slider would be a luxury.

But I am in favour of more sliders for each race, as long as it's kept within the parameters suited to each race. I'd like the option of beefier midlanders, like the derplander, for example.

Well, if games like Overwatch and Soul Calibur 6 can at least show masculinity in all its glory then there's no reason why FFXIV can't take steps towards doing the same.

Uhm. Someone who runs around, and does consistent exercise wouldn't really have "pudge". You know what a swimmer or runner body looks like right? Thats what a WoL would look like, most likely. That or a beefcake (see Highlander/Roe).

How would someone who does what the WoL does have any body fat at all?

Swimmers will tend to store a little more fat than other athletes. So do people who spend more time in cold conditions. Different people's bodies just store fat differently. Body fat isn't a malfunction, though some people might have conditions that make it hard to deal with.

It's not less realistic either. More variety of body types would be more realistic.

Of course realism isn't necessarily the ultimate goal of a fantasy game and there are technical concerns when there is a lot of variety in body shape.

I would like more facial sliders but I also understand some logic to not having them.

We have beautiful 3D models in this game but I highly suspect that if we looked at the wireframe and rigging hidden underneath they would be no more complex than WoW. Maybe even of classic WoW.

Having rebuilt faces with a small set of swappable options means they can get away with lower polygon models and a smaller set of “animation morphs / bones”. That in turn means the game can be faster and require less advanced hardware.

Those of you tuning this game up to ultra settings might be stuck on “middle” or “low” graphics if we had more customization and the people on low would simply be unable to play. Surely the PS3 support would never have existed, and we today might still not have PS4.

If you really don't want to use you imagination I guess you would be for as much detail as possible.

If you are saying people should just imagine the things they want, then should games even exist? I can just imagine I'm a a cat girl that shoots arrows and magic that lives in Eorzea and there are all these other people and we go on adventures... Why should art even exist?

But one reason people like to have options for character creation/customization is so they can express their imagination in a way that other people can see. So that when people look at your character it looks how you imagine it.

No- I was saying-..... I probably should’ve phrased it better. I tend to put on certain pieces of gear so my character looks more pudgy. It’d be great if I didn’t feel like I have to do that. i dunno..
