sadly, it isn't always a few inches. there's no telling where the AoE marker will show up. half the time i don't even know where it is. it could be clear across the map. on controller this is a problem.

Ah, interesting. I wasn't aware how it worked for controller users. For mouse, it just shows up wherever your mouse cursor is sitting.

If you're playing on PC, it likely is showing up wherever your mouse cursor is (whether you can see it or not), and if that's the case, you could try setting this option.
I'm not a controller user, so I don't understand what it does, but maybe you could try it and see if it works any better for you?
