I'm all for being able to learn the dances through a quest(and probably a quick time event mini-instance). Though it isn't really all that high on the "things I would like" list, it would be interesting to be able to do something like that.
I have no idea why people get so upset about stuff like this. If I wanted to learn how to riverdance I would go take a lesson. The dancers wouldn't be like uhhhh your not allowed cause your not Irish.
Same for clothes.. if I'm a guy and want to wear stilettos I'll go f'in buy a pair and wear them. Might get some odd looks but I sure as hell wouldn't get a message popping up saying "unequipable". Might as well just build walls around each city state and nobody is allowed to ever leave their homeland cause "it's mine!!!!!"
Hair does differ from race to race generally. This is a video game of course and I know how you meant it as we all want more customization on our characters. I wish SE would go the route of continuing to make these great hairstyles but alter how they appear depending on the race.To each their own I suppose, I just feel that exclusivity outside of a few rare cases just hurts glamour and customization for next to no reason. Hairs, dances, hempen and starter gears should be made available for all races because there's no good reason lore or otherwise for them to be exclusive.

^ this tbhI have no idea why people get so upset about stuff like this. If I wanted to learn how to riverdance I would go take a lesson. The dancers wouldn't be like uhhhh your not allowed cause your not Irish.

What we need is more lore and effort put in to differentiate the races, not more race-locked items tbh. It's why I actually really like the idea OP gave, since doing dance quests teaches you about each dance and therefor it would add actual in-game lore about each race rather than lore you can only learn via the lorebooks which you have to buy.
Am I a boy? Am I a girl? Who knows! But I enjoy video games and that's all anyone should care about!

Agreed and unlock standing, sitting and sleeping poses as well as running animations and let players decide the type of characters they want to have/build, there no point in restricting us to "preset" personalities, this game lacks so much customization!...
You stay away from my Lalafell butt wiggle! >.>
I personally hate this all races should be the same business... Let us keep unique in some things at least. You want the Lalafell dance? Be a Lalafell and earn it!
I could almost play Male Midlander for that. I want.
What do female midlanders get though? Does it avoid flappy-girl-arms syndrome?
And ought gender variants likewise be cross-learnable?

many, not all
If I had my preference we would have personalty options during character creation which would include choosing some of your emotes.
