Some good content like POTD was a good start. Eureka was just bad imo. It didn't even capture anything I loved about FFXI. It felt like Abyssea 2.0, only with more leechers, afkers and fps hell.

The game is 5 years old now. This isn't 2.0 anymore. It's time to change up the formula, think out the safety box, and add more new, original and exciting content. FFXI could do this with each expansion and the game is 15 or so YEARS OLD. This game with it's enhanced graphics and style should become even better than it's predecessor, but atm it's still far behind FFXI, not in graphics, but in original and creative content.

There is still room for growth for this game, but if Yoshi and his team keep the current formula going, this game isn't gonna have the best longevity it's older brother (FFXI) has.
Here come the trolls. People just like to jump into a post, change the topic and turn things negative don't they? This was an appreciation thread, if you don't have appreciation then just stay out. You guys gotta be negative about everything don't you? I myself had somewhat of a similar thread i started and soon as i posted it the trolls came running in ready to turn it negative with a bunch of crap trying to twist it into something else when in reality it was simply made to show my appreciateion. Come to find that you guys are even doing the same over here too. It's sad. I can understand constructive criticism but i mean cmon guys really? If you have nothing nice to say don't go straight to an appreciation thread to wreck it with your offtopic negativity, instead go back to your dark side of the forums and make your own rant. Saying all this in itself might be a bit twisting, but i felt someone needed to say it. So now that it's said and done i will move on and give my appreciation too!

AHEM aside from all that i'd also like to thank the dev team . Lets keep this thread positive please. =D

For sure, but that doesn't make my statement incorrect; especially considering the person I responded to and the context of the post. It's safe to assume that battle content isn't the focus (although if it were up to me it would be). The point was to not let misinformation be spread about how people seem to think Yoshi has a team of 4-5 people sitting in a garage making FF14, when it has at times had one of the largest dev teams in the industry.

Thanks for making my favorite game. Sometimes people don't appreciate something until it's gone. Imagine if FF XIV was gone tomorrow. Your next log out is the last one ever. There are other games out there but nothing quite like this one. Next expansion a massive amount of leavers will come back as usual, plus a lot of new people. Stormblood launch reportedly set the new record for concurrent subscribers, beating out ARR. Hopefully they keep up the good marketing and grow the audience again.

I really do appreciate all the devs have done and all the crap they've had to put up with. I'm honestly extremely disappointing in the community right now.

It wasn't my intention to say it was, more a lamentation that they should make it bigger

I might be in the minority, but I feel like the game is the best it's ever been.
There's a clear difference in the quality of leveling and 50 dungeons compared to 70 and later 60 dungeons. The design has definitely improved over time.
The extreme trials are tons of fun imo, and are truly worth playing again and again. It's just so satisfying to get a perfect run.
Sure, I didn't like Eureka but it's not like it's the only thing to do.
imho, if people are saying the game has gotten stale or needs an overhaul or what have you, maybe you should take a break and come back when the next major patch comes out? Fatigue is a real thing and all it takes is a break to make things feel a little more fresh again.
    Just my two cents.

I thank the devs for making 90% of old content still somewhat relevant, or at least playable for newbies.
This is one of the main draws of the game for me, feels like so many games nowadays just disregard the leveling experience and anything that's not current end-game because a majority of the playerbase doesn't care about it and will often times discourage the devs from working on them, so I'm glad Yoshi P and his team not only manage to create engaging end-game content they also made a way of keeping leveling interesting and fun at all stages of the game and mostly retaining the feel of the content as it was originally released, ensuring new players don't miss out on much even if they start late.

now please tell Soken that removing the drums and slowing the tempo of old Final Fantasy tracks is a bad idea, might as well just rip the music straight from the original game like with FFT if they're going to do that >.>
