THF is always my main job in games, i picked PLG as a main for this reason, i will be a little sad if arc gets THF. I guess i will have to level that too
Well the way I always thought it would go is you have the current 7 classes, and each one could pick between two jobs, but you can never switch back. What I mean is that you can switch between the 7 classes, but their jobs will only be the 1 of 2 that you picked. For example when I switch to GLA I can only pick PLD, where as you went with DRK, but when I pick archer, I can only pick BRD where as you can only pick THF.

I'd say that is fair enough. And then probably implement someway to "reset" your job which would bring you back to your class' base lvl and you'd have to rank the job up again. So if I decided Im tired of my 75 PLD, I can reset to R50 GLA and then rank my DRK up to 75.

The whole either PLD or DRK thing sounds stupid, if I want to be both I should be able too.

The thing that really pisses me off though is the arc > thf crap. What about the interview from last year where Yoshi said they were pushing around the idea of Thief > Ninja? That was a great idea and I'd be all for it, and the class wouldnt even have to be called thief, they could just make it very thief like and call it scout or something. The main thing is that I was really on board with a Thief and Ninja combo, it made sense. Is it a budget issue? So they dont want to even do a brand new class, or anymore than they have too? Also with the current direction of classes having the same weapons as Jobs, I'm pretty sure that would mean we would have a stupid Bow-wielding Thief............ Words cant fully express my disappointment if this info turns out to be accurate...

Dont really know where you are going with that question. NO, I mean a class that is like a f***ing thief, with steal and mug, and SATA, and dual wielding daggers or other small bladed weapons, and then stepping it up to Ninja as the Job, adding to their stealth and speed and adding in more debuffs and/or CC and/or enmity control! And no, not a tank ninja...

I'm almost 100% I read somewhere that THF was going to branch off a Rouge/Scout type of class anyway. Pretty sure even Yoshi said it. It really would make the most sense to me.

That may be true and I was disappointed with that as well, but seeing as they never ended up having it, I had assumed they would either A). never come out with a proper thf class, or B). Introduce one later. So I put Pugilist out of my head as anything related to thief. Then last year when Yoshi gave that one interview that talked of Thf >Ninja idea, I was really looking forward to that. With this lateset information, it feels like I have had the rug pulled out from under me not just once but twice.

Jobs do not have Levels. They are advanced by unlocking abilities through completing quests.

    There are no Levels People!

Zantetsuken, I think, is correct in his worries, which he expresses like this:

I worry that they are trying to cram too much into the game too quick. We don't really need pet/summoner/thf jobs that are grafted on to classes where they don't make much sense -- especially just to get it out the door asap.

I'd rather they took their time with it and got it right.
There seems to be a rather meretricious attitude running around on the dev camp, to calm, to assuage, to appease. It needs to stop. Otherwise they'll be all but taken hostages of the yelling crowds that sometimes populate these fora. What everybody wants and needs is a richly-featured, many-layered game built from within; a game with a concordant and cohesive feel; one in which parts belong in the whole, and the whole harmoniously reverberates with the feel of the parts. Sticking moogle heads out of pole-arms, harps out of bows, and jobs out of unrelated classes adds the stain of lackadaisical, inharmonious, careless and rushed work to it all. That is something I'm sure nobody wants SE to do.
