I'm just going to chime in here pointing out you people have a serious issue defining Class and Job (probably because you're drawing from other games to get a meaning for the name)

Remember that in XIV 'Class' means the primary progression, wherein the majority of your abilities come from and where grinding/XP comes from.

'Job' here means a secondary progression, based on quests and with only a very small handful of abilities aimed to specialized the class, essentially a 'Class-mod'.

More often than not when people say 'keep jobs and waste classes' it REALLY makes me cringe because you're getting the entire concepts backwards and what you really want to say is 'specialize classes and remove jobs'.

By the way, I really love the Armory system as it is and in fact I do want classes and jobs to stay as it is, I do think that being job-locked is also a bad idea and that it would remove the point of having more than one job for each class (one of the biggest draws for me in this game is the effectivelly null altitis thanks to a single character being able to master all classes and jobs, the other big draw is the focus on crafting and gathering it has). And sincerely I don't see what the problem is that people see with classes being tied to weapon, it's a pretty unique and fun idea and nothing prevents SE from making variations of the same weapon archetypes of that class.
