    Tv burn in

I looked in the technical area, but didn't think it fit in there. Anyways, I play on ps4 and I have burn in on my oled TV at the bottom where the hotbars are. Specifically I can see a copy of the ability boxes then a few lines under. I've tried running a vid to unlock pixels/whatever, but it hasn't worked. I can see the image mainly on red backgrounds (so reds, pinks and purples) I cannot see it on white, black or greens /blues. Would appreciate and help if anyone has any good suggestions

I'm sorry to say this but the only remedy for screen burn in is replacing the tv or monitor. As far as I know the damage can't be fixed.

OLED and Plasma screens will burn in from persistent images. TN/VA/IPS LCD's will instead get what's called "image persistance" but it's not burn-in, and can be fixed by having the screen cycle through solid colors when idle. However if the screen is old enough (eg 5+ years) you are probably better off replacing it, as newer screens consume less energy.

To summarize, it takes 4 weeks for OLED screens to be burned in. Note the Samsung in the middle is a 4K OLED screen and doesn't have the burn-in the LG OLED on the left does.

The TV is only 18 months old and it is a 4k. Bit bummed out by it, but I've turned the hotbars to being invisible until they are in use, and I've completely hidden the hp, mp & tp bars that are the worst offenders. It's odd it's only happened with red colours, but I'm glad it's not worse. Thanks for replying

That's actually not odd at all, red is a pretty intense color.

Check to see if there is an exclusion for burn in in the guarantee. Also, check to see if it has been advertised anywhere as being suitable for gaming (for example, if it has a gaming setting then it suggests that it can be used for gaming). If there's no exclusion, especially if it has been advertised as suitable for gaming, then it is unfit for purpose & you should get a replacement or refund.

Of course, if you're in the UK or EU then your Statutory Rights are exceptionally strong & even a picture in an advert of it being used for gaming would be enough but I understand that US consumers have far less protection via statute & often rely on private legal action instead. Good luck!

How do you do that with the hot bars? NVM found out. Odd it did a burn in, I have a OLED (if not mistaken) 4K TV and after almost 7mo no burn in at all that I can see even on a pink/purple background. I change my display so much on being on a PS4 i.e. going from game to PS menu and in game as well that probably no time for a burn-in.

Yeah you're pretty much boned here. Burn in isn't a thing you can just get rid of, the screen or tv itself is guna have to be replaced. You really shouldn't be playing this kind of a game on an OLED to begin with. It may look lovely but man are they fragile things.

This is why I don't spend money on problematic tech like OLED TVs.
They look stunning yes but they have one major problem nobody solved yet.
Image burn in. It's the nature of those panels and nothing can be done about it.
There are few tricks OEMs implement to help delaying the issue (like shifting the image few pixels back and forth)
but it's going to happen no matter.
The burn ins will get worse over time. OLEDs are not very good for longevity.
It's one of reasons you don't see any professional PC monitors based on OLEDs.
Nobody wants burn ins and colour degradation over time.
