It would have a lot of backlash for the reasons they shown, like pokemon go did. That is why they showed the phones being broke, being tossed in the river and such, it was to hint it was really a joke.

So i figured out it was pretty much an april fools things when the stick part started but is the gathering thing real? I mean they showed it right on the phone so unless they programmed a program to just show that on the phones screen in the video i feel like its actually part of the real app? Or maybe i'm reading too much into it. I feel like only half the video was april fools while the first have was sorta legit advertising for the official app. Either i'm stating the obvious or they got me good lol. All i really knew about the app before was that it was supposed to have in game chat on it or something.

Not necessarily. The magic of post video editing. The phones could just be displaying a solid color screen, probably blue considering, for filming. Then in post they can replace the blue screens with other videos, animations, still images, w/e to make it look like a program was actually being displayed.
