That's not a bad idea, however I can almost always get which ever item I want just by knowing the sweet spots and familiarization myself with the nodes and such anyhow. For example. When mining in Iron Lake, I can almost ALWAYS get either a Raw gem, 1-3 Iron ore, or Cobalt ore no matter between +5 and -5 I decided to hit. It's almost a science. Oh sure you'll get the occasional "brimstone" but mostly there is either ONE of those three items and they are ALWAYS at the same spot on the circle. Gem's below 15%, iron between 45 and 60% and Cobalt on the higher end of the scale.

Anything when done to much is tedious. The current gathering system, wile not the best, is not much to complain about. I don't find it nearly as frustrating as crafting. But that's nothing more than a personal opinion on my behalf.

I had no problem getting miner to 50 and even started going for my Pick of the Luminary.

Sorry with other words: I like using of gig, scythe and sledgehammer. NOT hatchet, rod or pickaxe.

Speaking/Typing in third person is extremely childish and stupid.

That's all Colino has to say.

Or you should know that since 1.19 each grade area have only 1 wood type. Mahagony you find on Iron Lake and only mahagony there. No other wood type on Iron Lake.

A timber item is not ingame.
So why are others complaining about not getting the item they want from a node? I'm confused. I've never touched botany before my rank is - but I'm just basing my opinion off of keeping up with the patch notes and others' complaints.

Oh sweet, do you know if there is any complete guide to gathering providing all these explanations for all the grades? That would be extremely useful and should be stickied!

Before 1.19, there was a much wider variety of items you could get from a given node. An obnoxious amount even, it makes the current variation seem incredibly small. If you know what you're doing and where to place your attempts, you can almost guarantee yourself one of two or three items at most. If I want to gather logs, I can get logs well above 70% of the time. There is some slight variation but it's very little compared to what it used to be.

No fishing but it has everything (I think) for Mining and Botany.

I'm not sure if you are pro or con a smaller variation of items...but personally as somebody who has taken Miner from 1-50 over the course of all its various incarnations...I am very pleased with this. No need for 20 different items to NPC. I like having a smaller selection. If I want Mythril, Cobalt, Electrum, Iron, Silver, copper, Alumen, Raw Gem's, Brimstone, I know where to go. I didn't need THREE different incarnations of IRON (Iron Ore, Iron Sand, Limonite), I didn't need two types of copper, gold sand, dust and ore, silver sand.

I'm glad they trimmed the fat, so to speak.

Awesome thanks. As much as a lot of you like to hate on Gath, I'm sure a lot of us have learned a lot today!

I'm certainly for the slimmed down list of possible items from a gathering action, however I think what they've got it down to now is pretty reasonable. I mean again, with only a reasonably small amount of variance, I am able to get the items I'm looking for without much work.
