Would you give up a large personal for your small FC?

I realise this is a rather contiversal subject.

I privately own a large personal house. I'm in a rather small FC (less than 8 people active during EU prime.

Odds are my FC leader may see this but I want to put this out there, i mean no harm by sharing this, I want however is people opinion on a subject like this.

To give some context to the situation. (See in-game conversation bottom of this post).

Not long ago (3-4 weeks or so) i made a new character on a preffered server. I'm a omnicrafter on a dead server. I transfered an alt with some of my gil and went ahead and made a new character.

I worked to rank up and level to 50 and went ahead and bought myself a large house in the goblet. With the idea I'll wait 45 days to transfer my main with my housing items and rest of my gil.

Back to today, I was approached out of the blue from the FC leader (which i barely have any interactions with) basicly asking (I took it like trying to guilt trip me) to give up or downgrade my personal large to favor of the FC and get a medium in shirogane (bear in mind, I have a house on my main character in Shirogane and I have it).

A few days ago 2 smalls opened up due to auto demo i assume and i let my FC know there was a couple small houses available and the FC and his main officer (right hand if you will) bought these as personal houses, they then found out i owned a large (I guess they then examined my placard).

So here I am, in a FC but FC leader ask me now to give up or downgrade to a medium sized house.

What is people thoughts on a subject like this? I know a lot of people disliked inviduals like myself with the funds to buy a personal large but imho its fair game with the current system from Yoshida.

Long explanation:
First for me to give up a large, not only from an earning gil standpoint (it depends how inflated your sever is on what the true value of a large is because ill tell you right now, no large is worth 40 M, they may be in the range of 100-500M, supply/demand and inflation [again inflated server] needs considering). To some people, a large house is priceless i/e no one has enough gil to buy it off someone else.

So gil reimbursement is clearly out of the question and taking a med is a tempting offer. For me personally it would depend HEAVILY on location of the large and med in question. I know for a fact I can be swayed for the right location. (GOOD large locations are rare af) In my view the only good goblet large plot can be mimic by the appt teleport, so it really depends how much you like the location.

Now lets go in the fc itself. For me to give up a FC plot would depend on my interactions with the fc itself, Are we like family? do we do lots of content together? are we a static in savage? < if all these are yes it def would trump the above and would consider it. If the FC is more like just a chat channel with little interaction, it would depend solely on the 2 locations in question. If the med is not a nice location, the answer would be a "hell no"

Edit: oh you left, i see, I do wonder what the locations in question are, that be the biggest reason for yes or no if there is lack of interactions. But ya that would be close for a leave for me as well. If i owned a large and someone presented me with the gardening excuse, we would have a debate. The result of said debate would either end in blacklisting each other or having the leader be in deeper understanding that having a small is good enough for now.

I would also like to add as an FC leader myself. Only I can move our house across. We've got a small already. One other reason for a large would be for extra crafting facilities (Oh I hope Square Enix make them more useful in the future... even if just for levelling crafters... 10CP at like level 59 is a drop in the ocean! But that's a whole other debate). As it stands, we just rotate them out as members need them. We work with what we have currently, rather than try and coerce people. Now I won't be upgrading my personal small to a medium or large (honestly, I like my small cozy house). We may look to upgrade to a medium down the line (or maybe save up for a large to pick up in the next wave), but we're not buying off anyone (even those who advertise they're selling the plot).

As for the OP, if he's leaving the server, all the best, if he's staying on this server, I can offer him a place in our FC. It's very quiet, but we are nice to each other.

The conversation also struck me as inappropriate. There was a respectful way to bring this up, something along the lines of: "Hey, buddy, I know you were thinking about moving servers and X, Y, Z. Any chance you'd be interested in swapping your Large for the FC's Medium and a bit of Gil, so that we could put it to use?"

The thing is that the OP was not moving from that server. He moved to it and bought the large house with his Gil and got into the FC. The house was still without stuff because he was waiting for his main character to transfer who would have more stuff.

Yes, i think some people mix up this fact. I'm not sure if i worded it bad cause it's a comfusing situation but i thought i had to bring up the reasons why it's empty right now.

If the fc already has a house, they are just being picky. The only reason for an fc to have a large house is more furnishings and more garden plots - the exact same reasons a private owner wants a larger house. The number of people in the fc doesn't matter because characters can overlap while walking in the house. They don't take any space.

If the fc doesn't have a house then they can wait for the next housing release and pick a house during the first week when private owners aren't allowed to buy a house.

So no, I wouldn't give up my house for a Free Company unless I was going to give up the house soon anyway.

i would only give up my house for an FC after at least one year of fun times together and only when i am very close to the FC members.

FCs falling apart, friends leave the game and you can't call the FC "home" anymore - and then you are staying there without FC and without the house...

I did give up my personal large for an FC. It was /my/ FC but I still gave it up so the FC could have a house. A house. Not a bigger house. Just a house.

Honestly what your FC leader did was unacceptable. They have an FC house... they shouldn't be asking members to give up theirs. They can ask as a whole if anyone is willing, but to contact you in PMs like that? To put you on the spot? To guilt you? Really would bother me. I would have left the FC that day.
