No need to go to the moon, maybe the moon will come to us.
Let's send Magnai to the moon to find his Nhaama!
I don't believe the actual name of the primary moon is Zodiark as more just Zodiark is contained within, instead, there is more evidence to suggest instead that Eorzeans at least seem to refer to the primary moon as Menphina, after the goddess of the Moon (the main 'proof' for this was that Dalamud was called 'Menphina's loyal hound', not 'Zodiark's, which makes sense, given that Dalamud orbited the Primary moon not Hydaelyn directly - the Astrolabe weapon shows this specifically).
Regardless though of what the primary moon may or may not be called, I agree it is likely that the story will probably take us there to finally destroy Zodiark and His erstwhile Ascian flunkies for good eventually, although how we will accomplish that is anyone's guess, either through mechanical (specially adapated airship like a FFXIV version of the Lunar Whale, or maybe even one of the Allagan Ragnarok-class Internment Hulks) or aetheric (read: teleportation) means.
An interesting coda to this is apparently the original plans for 1.0's storyline was that the player was meant to eventually travel to Dalamud sometime in the (then) future; this changed when Yoshi took over as director and when the decision was made to replace 1.0 with ARR and to justify the changed landscape by some kind of apocalyptic event, Yoshi asked if it would okay to "Bring it (Dalamud) down," and well, we kind of didn't get to Dalamud, more Dalamud came to us.
Also I think it's rather redundant now to regard Zodiark's existence as a spoiler, given it's pretty much common knowledge now. Hence I haven't spoilered it.![]()

I wonder how they'll handle a new world theme in FFXIV. We get glimpses of it in some of the glamours and WAR kinda has that tribal theme going for it. FFXI had the whole log cabin explorer theme, maybe XIV could take a different direction and go full Jurassic Park with huuuuuuuge enemies roaming around. I want giant Adamantoises and flying enemies that swoop down and attack unsuspecting passersby.
My present working theory is that Zodiark's corporal body is the moon (known to Eorzeans as Menphina) based on a few facts.
1. Both the planet and the goddess are named "Hydaelyn."
2. Zodiark is, based on the Ascians' comments, effectively a dead god.
3. If Hydaelyn-the-goddess' corporeal form is a celestial body, it stands to reason that Zodiark's corporeal form would also be a celestial body.
4. A ruined statue resembling the one seen in the Chrysalis can be seen when Elidibus speaks to the Warrior of Darkness on the moon. This suggests it may have once been habitable.
Thus, it seems plausible to me that the moon is, in fact, Zodiark's corporal body. Will we go there? Well... dunno about that, if it's a dead "world" so to speak it's likely uninhabitable and the Ascians and Warrior(s) of Darkness could only be there because they are already effectively dead. It's just a theory though... I don't know where the story's going.
