To be fair, if you look at the shape of Aldenard (the continent Eorzea is on) it's shaped a bit like Africa. With Ilsabard representing Europe.

To be fair, if you look at the shape of Aldenard (the continent Eorzea is on) it's shaped a bit like Africa. With Ilsabard representing Europe.

I can't acknowledge the presence of African influences in world design until a sizable portion of the continent/another continent goes full on Black Panther + The Mummy. (That was facetiously phrased but the idea should be clear enough.) Eorzea itself draws heavily on European cultures and aesthetics with randomly Turkish stuff because Ul'dah.

Would be nice to see some other Asian cultures on the other side of the continent as well (the inclusion of Mongolian aesthetics in the Steppes was fun). I'd suggest Thailand but ehhh, there's a little...history between Thailand and Japan...actually there is history between Japan and a lot of other SE Asian countries due to WWII. But let's not get into that on a game forum. :X
