If Blue Mage is DPS rather than Tank, then I think it would fit for Maiming gear, if it needed more magic defense they can put that on their weapon, whatever that may be.

Foebreaker/Breaker from FFXII would also fit the Maiming gear well since their job was to weaken the opponent with their break abilities, or 'maim' them.
