It is always amazing to see how we derailed the main focus of shopping cart into mog station bashing.
I thought it is the player base forced S/E to sell items on the mog station.

The cart is a nice (albeit incredibly overdue)... but SE's ludicrous pricing makes it unlikely that I'll ever buy more than one thing at a time. A $12 single character emote in a sub based game is bananas. I could buy a costume in a f2p game for that price lmao
I believe WoW's pricing is about the same for mounts/minions/other services. Though, I don't think they sell emotes. I might be wrong because these items are coverted to my local currency and things are a bit cheaper because of that.-
Well at least they added the cart..
WoW still has way less stuff in their cash shop and on top of that you can exchange or buy them from others for ingame currency.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
Indeed, also playtime. But the pricing is about the same. I wish XIV had an in-game alternative to get cash-shop exclusive items. Most of it is from previous events, though.
Pricing is about the same, but they have way, way, WAY less. So, XIV's is more expensive collectively, and you actually get less for your buck since a lot of it isn't account wide. Meanwhile, the mounts, pets (minions) and the grand total of 3 glamour pieces (and they're just helmets) are all account wide. Character services are a bit more expensive with WoW, but having easily accessible alts sorta deters people from race/faction/appearance changing so often. A lot of the appearance changes can be made in game rather than having to pay for them, with a few exceptions.
Xiv might have "more items", but a lot of them have already been acquired through in game events by most of the player base.
Even so, the number of exclusive items on the Mogstation still exceeds that of WoW's cash shop by miles. WoW funds itself basically because of the content/rewards and long term goals, while XIV is always lacking funds somehow...even with such a ridiculously large cash shop to back it up. I'm not saying that XIV is bad and that WoW is good (I play and enjoy both games) but one clearly needs the cash shop and the other probably doesn't, but they do anyway because of extra cash flow.
wow got
-13 minions
-12 mount
-3 helm
All bind to account.
8 year old cash shop.
FFXIV got a 3 years old cash shop...
and the FFXIV got an increase of bank slot not with 1 time buy but with another subscription, where most F2P got it with a 1 time buy...
édit : both cash shop shouldnt exist. We are on Subscription MMORPG. but there is time we have to admit that the Mog station gets quite crazy...
And while they add a shopping cart to help people to spend money, we have this forum with no ergonomy and this ****ing 1000 char limit
