Asking this for a concerned friend.

A friend of mine who plays FFXV on PS4 just recently got a new update with the last several hours of playing this morning (2am of 3/24/17 pst)

the update file in question is:

    "H2017.06.06.0000.0001f"
    with a size 26145.35MB.

    Now it changed to "H2017.06.06.0000.0001g"

I heard this happened to other users a lot but has there been a known fix to this issue? Like, would they have to reinstall the whole game again?

EDIt: It appears that the letter at the end of the update name is changing letters as it goes on going through the alphabet.

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

If the PS4 is trying to download the game again from scratch, then you will have to redownload it. It is likely that the data was corrupted somehow and a full reinstallation is needed. This usually happens when the system does not shut off properly while playing the game.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
