Question regarding multiple FFXIV versions on one account

I have a question regarding haveing multiple Final Fantasy XIV versions on one account. In mog station menu, I have got a list of platform versions - Windows, PS4, Mac, Collector's Edition. Currently, my Windows account is connected to Steam. If I have a possibility of having account on PS4 or Mac, do I have a possibility of having a Windows version not linked to Steam account? Or, maybe, is it possible to remove my connection with Steam in a way that preserves my characters that I created when playing through Steam version?

Once you're on steam you're on steam forever. if your main is on that version, you can't use the regular pc version.

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

The above poster is correct. The Steam and non-Steam versions of the game are mutually exclusive, you can only have one on your service account and there us no way to switch from one to the other.
