fantasia addiction

I don't use fantasias because I actually like my character. The most I change is hairstyle every 6 months (usually alternating between about 4 that I like and that suit her face). Perhaps it's a carry over from FFXI where you were literally stuck with that character you made forever and so much time and effort got invested into them that it felt wrong to change/delete them.

I always wondered how people get addicted to Fantasia. I see it as discount race change but without the name change. I've used fantasia a few times but I've generally remained as an Au Ra. I haven't used one in months. I have alts to fulfill my needs to play as something else. Admittedly, something that would be nice, but will never happen, is having your alts share the same job levels as your main. Just not gear.

It would be disrespectful to King (the character) if I (King the player) changed her entire being like that.

That's prettymuch how I feel too! Once you've created that character, they are a particular person and you can't just turn them into something else.

That said, I'll be making minor adjustments to one of my alts once I eventually get to the 'free Fantasia' point in the game with them, but even that feels a bit odd. Still, that's just that I 'got it wrong' in the character creator and need to correct it, not that I want to change them.

Because the character I made was based on a RPG tabletop character I created a long time ago. The only time I got to change it races was from Miqo'te to Au Ra because I felt it would fit.better for him. Also, I got around with the character creation tool about a long time and taking down notes of the decision I made for the appearance until I was satisfied with the results. I would use a fantasia again if they let us select different horns from faves one day :/

I only used the free Fantasia to get it out of my inventory, but haven't actually made any significant changes.

I keep switching back between the same miqote and Au Ra. I am very fond of the two designs, but I think I have finally settled on Miqote now though (which was my original race and face as when I started, but now with my irl eye colour).
For some reason, hairstyles just look better on Miqote, than on Au Ra. Also, my miqote has an amazingly annoying happy emote, which I use to annoy my husband. It's great. :P

Basically I am torn between my fondness for my original Miqote, that looks nicer with hairstyles, and my Au Ra that looks more like me irl than my miqote. I change every few months or so, and end up missing the other when I change.

Anybody remember when you had to use fantasia just to change your hairstyle? :P

Edit: Godsdamnit, people talking about their Au ra's is making me want to change back D: To be honest, I think I will now. >.<

i am between i want to look unique and i love all races. also sometimes it depends on my mood or an anime/movie that i've just watched or even because of a song (that's silly i know Q_Q). the problem is making alts is not the same as playing with your main , also repeating the msq with every alt will be .. not so fun .
but i like the retainer idea , i do change my retainer look every time i am about to use a fantasia on myself xD , i am going to try switching between fantasia addiction to retainer fantasia addiction .

For myself it was about the emotion animations and the body type in the end. Ive only bought one fantasia.
I started as a fem lala plainsfolk. I grew to dislike how limited the glamour options felt due to their short size you lose details and shape. I rolled up fem aura xeala and it was much much better for glamour but they are so skinny and the horns i chose blocked alot of my hair options. I rolled keeper of the sun miqo'te and the shape and the emotes are so prefect. I did buy the fantasia to make her a keeper of the moon for fangs but nothing changed with her appearance. I recently changed her hair and hair colour and she looks 100% different. Simple changes like hair colour, lip colour, changing the tattoos can change your whole look without much effort and it only costs 2k gil.

I tried other races to feel "faster" but I'll always go back to my ARR original roegadyn within the week, I've did small edits to skin colour and mouth since then, though.
