Hm.... judging from everyone's comment, I think 1080Ti should be able to get solid 144FPS @ max setting on 1440p in the crowded area like Eureka instance entry. If not, at least 100FPS+.

Now other question, FFXIV only have option for 60/30/15??? FPS cap right? So what you do with those powerful cards? Just leave it at upcapped? What about screen tearing and stuff? From what I heard a 144Hz panel should not have this problem, because a 1080Ti should not get more than 144FPS anyway.

The game looks amazing uncapped. If you can do it I would suggest it. I don't get any tearing at all in ff14. I don't run at 4k but that's only because my screen is a HD monitor so 4k does nothing for it really.

I use a single 1080ti @ Max settings and it can hardly keep steady 60 fps at 4K, depending on the map and number of characters it can vary from the low 30s to the higher 70s, my screen is 60Hz and I get visible tearing whenever it goes above 60!...

1440p is no problem for this card and it can probably handle 144fps easily, I don't use it because it looks blurry on a 4K screen!...

The game feels much more responsive at high fps but it definitely looks better at 4K, despite the crappy PS2 textures and the block-like models!...

You do realize that FPS has an absolutely minimal impact on visuals, right? The reason people like 144Hz (and really, for FFXIV it matters very little) is for smoothness and control purposes. It particularly comes up in more reactive, competitive games like first-person shooters.

As an aside, @OP - be sure you have a good cooling system. Running at 100% GPU load (which you'll likely come close to, if not hit, at 1440p 144Hz) will heat your card up quite a lot. There'll likely be a noise trade-off if your video card fan has to run near 100% to keep itself cool, which is a problem for some people.

i have a i7 6700k with 1080 TI using a 4k 60 hz G Sync panel and my fps doesnt dip below 60 fps no matter where im doing or whats going on. 65-80 fps depening on where. used a 1440p 144hz G Sync panel previously and game would occasionally dip below 144 fps
