Anyone using 1080Ti and a 1440p or above panel?

    Hi,

I'm looking to build a new PC. Now I'm sort of in the middle of choosing the hardware. I'm planning to play FF14 on a 1440p panel with maybe 144, 120Hz and a GTX 1080Ti. So if anyone has this card and the monitor, which sort of FPS do you get on maximum DX11 setting? Can a single GTX1080Ti handle this res and FPS in the crowed area?

    Thanks for your input.

I'm using a regular 1080 at 4k, and I've never seen it dip below 40, even in the middle of the Eureka train (which is really the most the game will ever throw at it). At 1440p I'd imagine a Ti would crush it given how much less data there is than at 4k.

I'm running a regular 1080 at 1440p / 144hz at max graphics settings, and I never dip below 100fps. A 1080ti would easily cap your fps at 144 at all times.

While I do not have this GPU I'm pretty sure that you can achieve 144 FPS with max settings.
Might sometimes be lower though like unusually crowded areas (opening of an expansion for example or launch day for Eureka)

And in the end it also depends on your CPU, ram, etc. If you're sitting with a Pentium 4 you're not going to achieve that kind of FPS.

Using a 1080Ti you should also invest in an I7 any of 6xxx or above series. And 16Gb ram of course.

A 1080Ti is more powerful than a 1080, and I have a 1080 and can play it at 4K, mostly at 60fps. (Depends on location.) The Ti is just a relabeled Titan X with a few rendering units disabled, but it's realistically 50% more powerful than the 1080, so it should be able to do 1080p x 144hz and 1440p at 144hz. That said, this game eats GPU's for breakfast, so make sure you get a card that is not factory OC'd if you can help it. It's usually those factory OC'd cards that die when an actual DX11/DX12 game is used.

I use R9 390X STRIX with a 1440p playing at max setting. FPS hold steady at around 70 most of the time. Temps get a bit high but not high enough to worry about for the moment. Plan on getting a 1080ti myself when prices stop being stupid

Thanks everyone, and yeah the price is really stupid now. I will delay it anyway because I'm still saving up.

I will pair it with maybe the gen 8 i7 K CPU and 16GB RAM. I'm planning to go nuts with this system.

    Thanks again for the numbers

If price isn't an object, the 8700k is an absolute monster. It crushes everything you can throw at it in gaming. If price is an object, the 8600k is competitive at a significant discount, and is worth it if that frees up budget for an SSD. Enjoy your new rig when you get it.

1070 on 3440x1440 Max setting normally 50 tp 60 fps.

I drop down to desktop normal for savage to stick a solid 60 fps.

1080 ti with current mining prices I wouldn't get. It's 2 year old tech and Nvidia is normally on a 2 year cycle so sometime this year 1180 or 2080 will come out and be cheaper and better performance then 1080 ti

Ever computer will have different frame rates and my rig is in no means the top of the line .

I got my 1080tis about a year ago and drive my 4k screen with them, Max setting (of course).
The CPU is a 7700k @ 4.7 , SSD etc , not quite the latest I know , but no reason to upgrade.

I could also say that my frame rate is this and that, solid that, never dipping bellow .... but lets give an example :

    limsa Aetheryte : 124 fps -150 fps
    kugane retainers : 90fps - 95 fps
    Eurika instance entry : 80fps - 85fps
