Commendations, Tank vs Healer.

I think healers get more comms than any other role.

My boyfriend actually has more time spent on his characterthan I do but I easily have 5 or 6 times his comms. He mainly tanks and I mainly heal, we both dabble in DPS.

I don't give comms when people ask for them. I also commend based on my roll. If I'm dps and the other dps doesn't do some majorly stupid crap or act like an idiot, then I commend them. If I'm tank or healer I commend the other role Tank > healer. Healer > tank.

In my experience as the three roles, I get more commendations as tank or healer than any.

Tank likely gets some from dps and sometimes from healer, but it's easier for the healer to be upset because of how fast the tank is going so it' possible to lose a commendation as tank for going too fast or not fast enough. On the flip side, the only reason you'd lose a commendation as a healer is if someone dies in my experience. With that said I usually also DPS as a healer (in spite of the fact I don't think healers should be dpsing). As a dps there seems to be some perception that 'DPS are a dime a dozen' so no matter what you do you're not likely to get a commendation because 'you're expendable'. Doesn't matter how well you perform, how many attacks you avoid and how easy you make the dungeon.

So yeah, I definitely give dps commendations when I'm a dps cause I know that it's the real thankless job. Healers and tanks wanna pretend like their job is hard or something. Nah. Being a good dps is the REAL hard job.

Mostly get commendations on healer really regardless of my performance as long as I keep people alive and as for dps I feel I get more coms when I'm just talking more than playing

Years ago I found most tanks got the comms. I got a lot more for tanking back in the past.
Now I get more for healing then tanking.
However, it depends on the content too. 24 man raids I get a good deal for all roles. I tend to get a good number of them for my monk, but can get some as a healer or tank.
Dungeons tend to lean more on the healer comms.
Trials can go any way. But tends to lean more on healers and tanks.
Guildheist are free game but I get a ton of them for tanking the lower level these are.

From what i have seen over the years, healers hands down get way more than tanks or DPS.

Oddly, from my experience as well, i get more on my black mage than i do tanking, and i am a damn good tank. It keeps making me think i should just return to my 2.0 main of BLM and specialise in explosion magic once more. (I do not really get them on other DPS, only BLM.)
