Well I'd also prefer it if they didn't take XI's magic set from Blue Mage either, seeing as the system would be vastly different.
XI's BLU was based around learning dozens and dozens of abilities from monsters, so it's no suprise there's 6 healing spells (although a few of them were just variations of white wind, healing breeze, etc.) XIV's would only get a handful, maybe 10 or 15 max once we account for basic skills as well.
With that in mind I'd rather they took classic Blue Mage spells from the other FF's, White Wind, Mighty Guard, 1000 Needles, Matra Magic, Aqualung, Bad Breath, etc.
