To piggyback on what someone mentioned earlier (I think): BLU as a tank could be really fun if it didn't fight in the same way as the current tanks with rigid combos.

BLU could be the BRD of tanks so to speak.

It could have a priority system for damaging blue magic spells and enmity generating weapon attacks (or also spells). It could have a proc system for powerful blue magic spells like White Wind and Mighty Guard. Self-Destruct could serve as the panic button, reducing your HP to 1 while either dealing damage or interacting with the job gauge in a beneficial way - the player would then get a very short period of invulnerability (or inability to reduce HP below 1) for a healer to play catch-up and would be on at least a 420s timer to discourage use as an actual attack. Perhaps split the panic button with WW/MG and have Self-Destruct become available when the BLU is at 50% HP, resulting in a proc (could get an ability to force a proc) to either use MG+SD to withstand a massive tank buster (like PLD) or use SD+WW to pre-empt a tank buster (like DRK).

It reminds me of performing a cadrioversion, sending electrical impulses into the heart to adjust someone's heart rate and re-establish a normal rythem. Aether can be pumped jnto an individual to mimic the flow of aether of another. Fordola didn't just inherit the echo, but Kyle's unique form of the echo, resulting in Fordola's frequent visions. A unique magitek suit with the ability to alter ones aetherflow to use abilities of others. One would only need to scan the flow of the enemies aether while using that ability.
what does the artifical Echo have to do with Blue mage?
If I recall, the Echo experiments wasn't approved by the Empire, and Zeno only got away with it since He's the Prince and it was developed in secret until it was finally perfected (the head scientist I think says something about being laughed out of the Garlean Science community and picked up by Zeno as one of his Loyal followers). Not to mention Krile form of the Echo is a sentient Mind reader (as opposed to our temporal Vision), which means her form of the echo only works on Sentient Races (spoken and Beast Race), as opposed to Beasts and Monsters (the common idea of Blue Mage spell origins)

Though Fordola getting an job change if she decides to be a traveling companion in the future would be interesting, especially if she gains a Gunblade From Shadowhunter (aka Gaius but-not-Gaius) as that could mean being honored by the Garlean her family looked up to.

I wouldn't mind seeing a green mage in this game it's my favorite color; however, they would need to find a real identity for it because in the tactic games I believe they use white/black magic enfeebling and buffing spells.

I would love to see them using luck based spells, perhaps merge a gambler concept with them. Green is known as the money color so I think it would fit.

Well green mage originally is the class that specialized in buff and status ailment (debuff) magic, in a way they are support class.

I dont see why they cant be one? BRD is half support half "physical" dps that help party by buffing

Green mage could be the half support half "magic" dps that help party by debuffing the enemy, something like def down, atk down, poison, slow, etc, but more potent than typical debuff from other class

A job focusing on debuffs would be OP in early game content and absolutely worthless in like anything post-50. At best it might be able to contend with RDM for solo Palace of the Dead.

it depends on the types of debuffs
Because Foe requiem,Trick attack, hyper drive,Virus,dismantle,___ resist down etc etc all extremely good debuff
back in HW scourge was a one of the reason Drk was so good for that constant debuff on magical attacks

Going off what they mentioned as examples, a debuff centered job would be crap in anything post-50. The examples you gave would make for a seriously OP job even if they had access to like two of those consistently.

I'd like to see them as an odd healer Chloromancer(another take on "green")/Geomancer combination. Spores for DoT/Debuffs that allow players hitting the enemy to regain some HP or a few seconds of a DPS buff with each attack. Main line of DPS spells to be "Leaf" spells from FF 4 Heroes of Light; Tanglevine for their AoE (apply pacification with diminishing returns like PLD) paired with Sinkhole to cause a Slow/Blind effect. Tranq line fore healing, Pollen for AoE heals. A Stance similar to Synastry but doesn't wear off (Nature's Blessing), allows a fraction of your DPS to also heal the buffed player. A second stance on yourself (Nature's Gift) that cancels the previous stance to provide AoE healing. A way to make overhealing provide a shield totaling the amount overhealed (perhaps their emergency heal as a flat high potency). AoE Thrill of Battle bubble for max HP tinkering. A green gauge that builds by Leaf/Spore damage and can be used for AoE heals, MP recovery or enhancement to Synastry-like stances.

Basically carrying over Green Mage's Bubble (Max HP) and Reflection identities from FFTA.

Just give BLU a mace and a rune shield and call it a day. MNK's now have a tank that they can share blunt debuff with and PLD no longer has the monopoly on blocking. Plus it's very symmetrical having two tanks with 2h weapons and two tanks with a 1h and shield set up. They could even push it further and make WAR and DRK more offensive tanks and PLD/BLU more party/support tanks.

They also need to give tanks a cross class skill akin to trick attack. Tired of seeing a nin in every party and would like to see some variety.
