You're not the only one I don't know how many times I get into groups and there's no AoE damage going out and they want me to pull big and then we die because only 1 mob has died and the healer is spamming Cure II without Lucid Dreaming or anything. If I say anything then i'm "bullying" someone even though we're doing lvl 70 content and they should have known how to AoE 50-60 levels ago but here we are in Fractal HM and people can't preform their jobs at all and it's puzzling to me as I try to give advice and throw way markers, mark people etc, but I don't mean it in a malicious way.

At the end of the day you can do your role as a tank and that's it really, you can mitigate perfectly, do extra DPS, and do big pulls, but if your group can't do simple AoE rotations or use their CDs and OGCDs then there's not much else you can do after you've told them "hey Blm if you use Fire II and Flare it's great AoE damage!" you'll usually get silence, least that's what it's like for me anyways.

For the record the abbreviation you're looking for is SMN, not SUM.
Less you were paired with some kinda Sun Mage or something.

I tend to be pretty patient. I had a gIroup fighting Ifrit (normal) and the healer and I say through 6 party wipes before we finally got through to the DPS that the nail needed to die.

Going into a new dungeon I like figuring some stuff out for myself. I don\\'t read guides or watch videos until I\\'ve at least tried it once. One of the most fun dungeon runs I\\'ve ever done was ampadors keep with. Random group of people who had never done it before. We had a blast figuring things out and felt really good when we finally solved how to beat Diablos.

That said I always listen. In the library above someone had to tell me I had to lead that ball I to the behemoth. Before I was told I was trying to keep it away from him and the other energy ball. I reacted though.

Usually the bosses that continually give me trouble are the ones that knock you off a platform. Eleven after I know they do it it will still get me for. Time to time. im looking at you Titan...

I think most players are like me. We want to experience the content at least once fresh. Then we can worry about how to improve our efficiency. All too often I see players getting kissed because new players arent playing to static groups high level of efficiency. Quite frankly I think that beligerent attitude has led some players to just block out the white noise.

Other times the p layer is just that bad. The only time I can Renner kicking a bad player was in bayflox. He was a healer and all he did was cast medics. He was constantly out of no and we put up with it for an hour. We simply couldn\\\\\\'t beat the final Dragon. We finally convinced him to use cure but he used cure w and would never try and use cure1. I felt bad about kicking him. Felt like I was kicking out a little kid that was just having fun playing a healer.

Just to say, because I read someone saying that doing big pulls was part of tank role... Nope, it's not part of the tank role. If you want to do big pulls, do it. But there are some people (like me) who doesnt like big pulls and find them boring as hell and always do small packs. And I noticed that people were appreciating the runs even more that way.

As for the experience of the OP, it's a regular thing with this game. That's sad.

Maybe they just appreciate that the dungeon is finally over :P

But seriously, as a healer I prefer to do large pulls with a tank that knows how to use cooldowns properly, but even more than that I appreciate a tank that knows what they and the dps are capable of and pulls appropriately to that. You know better than anyone what your gear is like, you can watch your hp and see whether the rate you are taking damage is appropriate, and you can see how long the pulls are taking to judge whether that big pull is going to speed things up or just unnecessarily strain your and the healer's cooldowns.

However, most jobs' aoe rotations only start to become effective at 3+ mobs, so it is usually worthwhile to pull at least 2 packs at a time.

Im not into big pulls either. I used to let people bully me into it but no more. I set the pace. I usually start with 1 group. Then based on how we do I'll pull 2 groups. Everyone seems to have fun that way.

I've had people rage quit on me for refusing to pull the entire map. I've found there are always people still waiting in the queues. Its the tanks job to set the pace and initiate boss fights. I don't drag my feet but I do take care to see if everyone is keeping up and finished with any cutscenes.

Bear in mind that someone's fun is someone else's boredom. The following text is said with respect to this double-edge.

As a WHM main myself, nothing annoys me more than a tank taking the small-pack approach -- and by that I mean if there is no reason to do so, such as the team being geared and containing plenty of AoE. I have no issue with people being inexperienced, apprehensive, undergeared, or prone to panic, to which I won't try and force them to do something they dislike - but if I see a well prepared team with no real reason to take it slow, I get antsy due to now being reduced to mashing a total of two buttons (Stone/Cure) for about 30mins (seeing as the dungeon duration is being almost doubled as a result).

At the end of the day, the majority (no matter what way they prefer to play) can and typically will see content more times than they can count, hence most favour speed/efficiency over a chill-run.

The size of your pull should be related to your party composition and tank/healer ability.

Yes, if your tank and healer can cope then it’s possible to run with big pulls, but if your DPS aren’t tailored to AoE damage then it’s not going to be any quicker or any more fun.
I remember the tank doing big pulls on Brayflox when I was a ninja and my co-dps was a monk… with no AoE skills at those levels.
The run took just as long as doing smaller pulls, except it was more boring because you just stood still mashing the same buttons over and over.
It probably took longer because it forced the healer to heal, whereas smaller pulls would have put less strain on tank HP and allowed the healer to DPS and heal between pulls.
