2.0 and 2.1 were probably the best patches for difficulty this game has seen. As well as all of coil being perfectly tuned, all they had to do for 3.0 was make a savage version and leave the "normal" mode as it was in 2.0. Sadly the endgame dungeons from 2.0 and 2.1 were too much for people and since they could not be done in seconds the whole game shifted its focus after that.
