Tank anxiety seems to be really commonplace as does healer anxiety. Whilst it may seem like you have a lot to keep track of, I promise you it's really not that much. Sometimes doing content as dps first is a good confidence boost since you're not the defacto leader of the group (usually the tank) and there's little pressure compared to playing a healer. As you become more comfortable with content you will start to do things automatically, such as your rotation, cooldowns etc. You just need to build yourself up, ignore the people who are rude but listen to the people who give you honest feedback about your performance. It's encouraging that you have such a positive attitude already and you want to improve, this already makes you a step up from those you will usually encounter in DF.

In what content are you 9th percentile though? If it's savage then you are actually in the 10% of players even doing content of that difficulty and that's who the percentile compares you against. It doesn't mean 91% of the entire player base performs better than you. The mere fact that you are concerned about how well you play probably puts you far above the average player.

I don't give two goobue shites about FFlogs. I don't do savage raids so it's not intended for someone like me, anyway.

What I do care about is performing at my personal best so as not to be a hindrance to my team. My personal best means understanding my opener and rotation, and learning the mechanics of a boss fight to the best of my ability - but not stressing out over it because I didn't do a half-a-percent more damage than somebody else.

I play games to have fun and contribute to the group. Most of all, I play them to relax and grow my character over time. Those are the things that are most important to me.

Or has shaken in the game done something to truly shake your confidence, to the point that you strongly considered dropping your sub?

I'm curious. Mind sharing with me?
Personally, I've always felt like I have a lot of improvements to make, and it feels like most of the people who have anything to say don't really know what they're talking about...like those people who say tanks shouldn't worry about dps and they should always be in tank stance and all that nonsense. If you haven't already, you can join the Balance discord and they can help you out a lot there whether you're just reading what info they have pinned or getting involved and asking them questions/having them analyze your logs. They're generally friendly there as long as you genuinely want to improve and aren't trying to start any conflicts.

Do you have fun playing the game and beat or progress on the content that you want to? That's all that matters.

FFlogs is for morons. It's people who are bored with the game trying to make it artificially harder for themselves by having an informal ranking contest. It doesn't matter what percentile you are in so long as you are enjoying the game and reach the content that is fun for your level of skill. Whenever you focus on how you do compared to others, you open the door to unhappiness because there will always be so many players above you that you can't compete with. Some dude will always parse above you, playing the game on a guitar hero controller or something.

This is kind of why some people are against parser culture. It's one thing if you willingly find fun in obsessively practicing to make your play flawless, but so much of this is just forced competition for other players or people needing to conform to a community standard that often devalues real achievement.

Honestly, I don't even understand OP to begin with.
He puts himself in some kind of depressional state for such pointless reasons...
I would even say, it is all well deserved as he's somehow making a mea-culpa of how he's been harsh on other people, even though he doesn't even meet the standards he's been imposing on them.
But in the end, it is a good wake up call... though he should understand by now why people labelled him toxic elitist !

Now next step is to throw all that mindset in the garbage, and like Stormfur, just have fun playing the game...

When I started raiding, my Numbers weren't good aswell. First time parsing anyway and with that Feedback I always tried to get a bit better.
Look out for Guides, Openers, Rotations...
Ask good Players to help you, give you tips^^
And when you start improving, the more fun you will have in raids.

You can feel as a good Player and think everything you're doing is fine, until you get into Savage Raiding and using FFlogs.
My Playstyle change over the last 2 years alot, so don't be made, when you're Numbers aren't perfect at the beginning.

The most important thing is, to have fun in what you do.

I agree with SenorPatty but to add to that, while yes, your fflogs are anything but good, you also have the right mindset to improve, thats the most important thing, if this forum had PMs i would have linked you to a couple of discords i know that can help you if you want, but im not sure if im allowed to, but one thing to remember is, Always Be Casting, take it from a Black Mage

Search for "The Balance" discord and ask for help there, there are guides and helpful ppl who may take time out of their day to have a thourough look over and help you improve.

Lastly, i like your threads, they promote interesting discussion, dont let the few bad apples tell you otherwise.

Trademarks of a Toxic (FFXIV) Elitist:

    a) Posts on the forum about how much people suck in general.
    b) Posts on the forum about how much PUG'ing sucks, despite FC's and statics being a thing.
    c) Posts on the forum about how lazy PUG's are.
    d) Demands that players watch a tutorial before playing any content
    e) Treats anyone who hasn't finished all content the same as someone who has completed no content at all.
    f) Uses unauthorized third party software to track theirs and others DPS, when called out on it, lies.
    g) Refuses to show video of how good they are or how bad others are when they play with them.
    h) Instead of taking advice, looks at players lodestone to try and find a reason to dismiss their advice or opinion
    i) Demands that players skip all cutscenes
    j) Demands that players minmax their DPS, even if they are not a DPS job
    k) Abandons any duty that they can't speed run, they'd rather eat the penalty than spend more than 10 minutes in a duty that has a 90 minute time limit.
    l) Abandons any duty that they fail on once, blames everyone but themselves

In general, you may be a toxic elitist, if the problem is "everyone but you", if you can not play well with others, stop playing MMORPG's. Telling players to "git gud" is toxic behavior. Narcissists and sociopaths are the kind of people that feel joy when others experience misery. Using unauthorized third party software/cheating tools is what toxic players do as a ego-stroking contest.

Which to go back to the original poster, whatever you think you did to pick up that title, is most likely the way you argue for your subjective opinion about things, and not necessarily how you've been playing the game itself. I'm not going to look up your other posts to cherry pick anything. However you are under no obligation at all to take unsolicited advice from anyone, and if people in your FC or friends list are pulling you aside and telling you that your game play is actually awful, consider the source of that suggestion. Is it because you're tanking and the healers are complaining about how you play, or is it because you're DPS and someone is scanning your actions with a parser? Because really, how does someone know if you are not carrying your own weight? Looking at someone's gear is not the same as looking at their keybindings, macros and HUD setup.

I've played this game since V1.0 on and off, and walk away from it any time I feel like I'm spending too much time on conversations that go nowhere than playing the game itself. I avoided joining FC's and refused all FC invites to date mainly to avoid over-committing to this game like I did with the previous MMORPG. If you aren't enjoying the game, walk away from it, unsub for a while.
