FFlogs is a tool, incredibly useful when used correctly.
(Disclaimer, everything I'm about to say is dependent on my information being correct, FFlogs gets really fussy with my phone.)
You have a single recorded kill each on Phantom Train and Demon Chaddernook as SMN. That sample size is far too small to be anywhere indicative of how well you perform.
Furthermore, both of those kills are from March 7th which is really late into the tier. You aren't just ranked against SMN of similar gear level, you are ranked against all SMN who upload. Get some more kills under your belt and start to look for an upward swing in your numbers.

Ideally what you want to see is a steady increase in your performance after each kill. Have a "Just a little bit better this time" attitude.
There's two types of Lies. Lies, and statistics.

While OP, if you got a 9% run or two, you're certainly below average, in all likelihood given the factors here, as well as other things that might not be visible (IE, padding stats on adds, skipping Ghost phase etc) your 'real' comparison to how you are against other SMNs is likely a bit higher. But if you decide to want to improve, there's definitely always an avenue for that. Improve if you want to. If you're clearing content at a comfortable pace for you and your group, then there's never a problem.

Everyone likes to think they're good at what they're doing...thats kind of human nature and nothing wrong with it. Being worse than you think you are is also normal and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Really, the only issue is the one you've already identified; that you aren't actually at the level you think you are. From here you can either choose to accept that you don't play at the level you thought you did ( which is perfectly fine if thats what you want), or start training if you want to get better; beat that dummy like a red-headed step child and practice your times on the SB version of SSS to see if you can beat your best time, ask for advise, find a mentor to help you...I believe there's plenty on the forums willing to help.

You have a desire to get better, now you just need the time and practice to get there. Everyone progresses at a different rate, just stick with it and you'll get there eventually.

"The world is dumb enough, don't add to it" - Foamy the squirrel

A simple rant topic from a cartoon character, those who know who Foamy is, gives a simple perspective on how humanity seems to lack simple common sense. As a life long gamer, there has been times where yes people have tried to put me down and it really is no different than cyber bulling. However, the one thing to keep in mind is that mostplayers that can't comprehends simple human interaction and over react over a video game really tells you that they have security issues and just need a place where they feel superior outside of their normal lives either do to unwanted /unfavorable circumstance in which they drag themselves in. I think everyone gets to that point and unfortunately gaming is an outlet for most of us to escape reality. How we react to these people however is entirely up to us and while we may not like to be in a situation where we feel like quitting, it is up to us to acknowledge their existence. The quote I posted is my response to those players who think they can get to me. It reminds me that unfortunately their are those who like to belittle others, maybe this game is all they are good for, maybe their just looking for someone to take out their frustration. Point is don't let them get to you they hate that the most :P

I have bad anxiety and it makes tanking pretty hard for me. I always think I'm doing bad ever since I met 2 players that mocked me and called me a waste of space over a few mistakes when I was level 29 (this was on another character). I've been nervous about tanking ever since. I met one person in duty finder that said I was a good tank, and that I did almost as good as their static tank (not sure what static means). A friend thinks I do a good job on keeping aggro but thinks I get nervous on mechanics, whats worse is I have no idea if any of that is true. Some suggest I start as DPS and I've been made fun of for saying this before. I feel like there is way too much to keep track of not sure how to word this, but it's like the rotations seem way to much for me to remember not sure if that makes any sense. I know that sounds really lame but it's true sadly. I do always take advice though, so I truly hope I am able get better eventually.

Tank anxiety seems to be really commonplace as does healer anxiety. Whilst it may seem like you have a lot to keep track of, I promise you it's really not that much. Sometimes doing content as dps first is a good confidence boost since you're not the defacto leader of the group (usually the tank) and there's little pressure compared to playing a healer. As you become more comfortable with content you will start to do things automatically, such as your rotation, cooldowns etc. You just need to build yourself up, ignore the people who are rude but listen to the people who give you honest feedback about your performance. It's encouraging that you have such a positive attitude already and you want to improve, this already makes you a step up from those you will usually encounter in DF.

In what content are you 9th percentile though? If it's savage then you are actually in the 10% of players even doing content of that difficulty and that's who the percentile compares you against. It doesn't mean 91% of the entire player base performs better than you. The mere fact that you are concerned about how well you play probably puts you far above the average player.

My peers have been pretty supportive - in fact, it wasn't really an issue with them because I'm not playing horribly. But looking at my logs (I'm on PS4, so I can't parse myself, otherwise, I'd have more than what's uploaded), I can tell I'm not pulling my weight. I haven't had anybody really call me out on my DPS, but the thing with me is that I've come to hold myself to a high standard. I don't look to other party members to push their DPS, because in Savage raiding, since I don't have a static, the only thing I really care as far as the party goes is that we all get the clear as smoothly as possible. As far as DPS goes when I'm playing SMN, I care that I'm only pulling my weight DPS-wise, which I have not been.

I wouldn't say it's so much as that I'm not enjoying it, but rather, I have a lot of pride. Now, to be fair, I have no idea what kind of numbers I've been pulling lately because none of my logs have been posted since March 7th. But the DPS numbers are similar in the normal Sigmascape fights that have been uploaded recently. So it kinda screws with me that I've been wanting a stronger player base when I myself have been playing far below what is considered average. A poster above you said that this bout of depression was deserved, and perhaps that might be true. I admit that I was completely in the wrong.

But I don't personally judge others parses...never have. Not saying anybody here said that I was, just providing extra clarification.
Here, let me pull your attention to another post as well:

There's something to this but there's also other factors you may not be considering: How many players are actually posting logs of Sigma Normal? If people are posting FFLogs of a normal version of a raid, what is the likelihood that they're also they ones obsessed with high percentiles and thus you're comparing yourself against the average of 10% of the population which is intrinsically different than the average of 100% of the population? (If your at 9th percentile of the top 90th percentile then you're actually 91st percentile which is WAY above the typical average). Lastly, unless you're running with the same people as always whom are uploading these logs, how certain are you off their ACT settings to accurately portray your performance?

    Just more food for thought.

I don't give two goobue shites about FFlogs. I don't do savage raids so it's not intended for someone like me, anyway.

What I do care about is performing at my personal best so as not to be a hindrance to my team. My personal best means understanding my opener and rotation, and learning the mechanics of a boss fight to the best of my ability - but not stressing out over it because I didn't do a half-a-percent more damage than somebody else.

I play games to have fun and contribute to the group. Most of all, I play them to relax and grow my character over time. Those are the things that are most important to me.

FFlogs is intended for anybody who wants to gauge and improve their performance, savage raiding or no.

Well, I learned something new today. I thought it was exclusively for savage raiders. Thank you for clearing that up!
