Honestly, I see the ping issue as an extension of the larger issue with damage as a role in general. It really shouldn't be about maintaining an optimal rotation for the entire duration of an encounter. Maintaining pinpoint timing for a three hour binge isn't a healthy goal. It just means that people will get exhausted faster than the tank or healer will. Then those people feel "bad" because they "weren't doing their job right" even if they were doing fine for the first thirty minutes.
Sorry, minor rant there.
Some ideas are pretty nice. I hope SE will see this (and better hope not to broke MCH again with 5.0).

i wish we can have five "Ammo" back, three isn't cutting it, also lengthen "Wild Fire" to 12 seconds and do something to "Flamethrower" it's a lvl 70 skill and i feel its lacking in the department as a lvl cap skill.
Would be cool, if SE do something about Mch. But I think mch won't get any love.
If we post a bug (like that FT (Flamethrower) does not crit/dh, but it should) then it's moved to not enough information, but there is no more information needed. It only shows that mch is not wanted...![]()
Nothing bothers me more than the fact that they showed us such a cool skill in the trailer which is Flamethrower only to be used unlike ANY FLAMETHROWER YOU'VE EVER SEEN IN ANY OTHER GAME EVER. Flamethrowers are supposed to be this fun, cool equipment that you use to burn everything down in such cool style. Only in FFXIV where Flamethrower is a clunky mess that you HAVE to use it for half a second before you have to turn it off and use something else, doing pesky 60 potency or nothing at all just to overheat and go through one of the most ping-dependent burst rotations in the game thanks to Rapid Fire.
You don't even see a centimetre of the flames before you have to move on. It's so disappointing and anti-climactic, especially considering they promoted it in the action trailer and benchmark they showed in SB. I want to freaking move around and burn stuff up, screaming YEAHHHHH and having the time of my life like every flamethrower I've seen in other video games. Flamethrower should have been the skill you use while waiting for your overheat cooldown to end, and Hot Shot is your overheat tool (gives you 25 heat like in PVP). But I'll settle for less. Leave Flamethrower as it is, make Wildfire and Overheat last TWO seconds more (12s) so I'd be able to fit my CDs without having to worry so much about ping. MCH is meant to be this complicated class that requires skill and good attention, but being so clunky and so overly ping dependent is not skill nor fun to play.
personally i wish they'd move away from the ammo system and make it more of a, well, machinist, not a gun toting cowboy.
more turret interaction, more gadgets like the flamethrower, more explosions! ya know? none of the 1 2 3 rng shot ammo junk
Well their weapon is a gun, not a screwdriver.
I’m happy with the ammo system as a basic rotation, but I don’t think they should keep building onto it like they have with the heat system.
So yeah, I agree there should be more ‘machinery’, perhaps something like a third turret (Knight Autoturret a mobile, melee attacker, more versatility, gains more enmity, but more vulnerable to destruction perhaps) and another machine skill, maybe a Bazooka/Cannon, that deals heavy damage and triggers Wildfire explosion, so it can be used as a Wildfire rotation finisher.

I'd agree with a cast but if they make it a single skill that you use at certain times (Holy Spirit, Iai) like MCH lining up a Bazooka shot that takes about 4 seconds to cast and does massive damage. Then a cast time would be justified and pretty cool to use.
Actually you have to cast your Flamethrower for 5s or so. I still cant understand why we needed that Overheat-mechanic so badly? While our guns fit 5 ammo in Heavensward, it fit now 3 ammo in Stormblood and GB can overheat now. What happened with our GB? I cant wait to see what will happen in 5.0. Maybe our GB can break if we wont sacrifice our turret. And we got only 1 ammo, lul.
