Connection to server lost (Errorcode 9002)

    Hello,

since yesterday morning, i have some troubles while playing ffxiv.
Nearly every 10 minutes, i'm getting a disconnect with the error code 9002 which throws me back to the character selection screen. The game is at the moment unplayable. Dungeons and trials have a minimum of 3 disconnects.

    What i've done until now:
    - Reboot my computer
    - Reboot my Router
    - changed game settings to use Dx9 instead of Dx11 (which causes the problem to occure more often)

It's definitely no ISP problem (the game works flawlessly on a PS4 in the same room connected to the same router). Therefore it has to be a PC related ffxiv problem.

There hasn't changed anything on my computer setup or installed applications between Saturday night (where it was working fine) and sunday morning (where the problem occured first).

So actually i'm running out of ideas.

It would be great if someone can assist me to solve this problem.

    Best regards.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

So for your PC, you keep getting the 90002 disconnection error, but not on your PS4? I'm assuming you are in the same area/doing the same content on each platform, correct?

How are they connected to the router? Wired or wirelessly?

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

    Hello,

That’s right, the error only appears on pc. Both devices are connected wired to
    the router.
My girlfriend and I are both on the same server doing the same content (e.g. A dungeon together). She has no problems at all on the PS4 while I have a disconnect on the PC every few minutes.

    Thanks for helping out.
    Best regards

Thank you for the update Ezraeth.

Do you normally play on the same connection at the same time? If so, do you disconnect just as often if you play on the PC alone?

If it is only happening on the PC, then its probably something specific to that device, not necessarily the internet connection.

Make sure that no other programs are running at the same time as the game. Also perform a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.

Set exceptions for Final Fantasy XIV on your anti-virus/firewall in order to avoid any interference from these programs.

Ensure that the latest version of Internet Explorer is installed on your PC (even if you don't use Internet Explorer), please do not use Edge as that is a different internet platform. Once Internet Explorer is up-to-date, please open the IE browser, open the "Tools", go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or to "Allow All Cookies"
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
    - Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
    - Go to the "Compatibility" tab, and change the compatibility mode to "Windows 7"
    - Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
    - Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

    Hello Einmimiria,

after a Live Chat with a SEE Agent we were able to determine that the problem might be caused by my providers DNS Server. So i changed the DNS Server to the Google DNS, flushed my DNS Cache and rebooted my router. The problem didn't occured on the PS4 because the PS4 was using the Sony Entertainment Network to communicate with the FFXIV Servers.

I will continue to observe this problem if it still occurs.

    Thanks for your support!

    Best regards
